Even if he is out for the year, he played as a true freshman. This would be good because next season we would still have an extremely experienced defensive lineman even though Godchaux and Neal will have departed.

Hope he recovers. Sounds like bad ligament damage as well.. Just initial reports though..

That is a good option.

LaCouture

I can't see him playing another down for LSU. Truly a sad situation and wish him all the best for a speedy recovery and successful career in the NFL.

If he goes in the draft this year, he will go wayyyyyy lower than he would if he came back and played one more year.

Do we know for certain it was a tear and not a sprain?

Nothing concrete yet. Probably hasn't even had an MRI yet.

1998 wants their theory back. It doesn't work like that anymore. Get healthy, prove it, barely drop if any. Orrrr, comeback and risk reinjury and then really be screwed. Sorry, but more times than not, the best decision is go pro

So he'll get drafter higher in 2017 coming off a torn ACL, than he would in 2018 if he comes back for another season and shows out? Ok.

Only on the SEC recruiting board (messing with the Gumps).Never said that on this board. I was the poster who broke Jacoby's first commitment on his board.

This depends on the injury and the prospect. For every Todd Gurly there's a Jaylon Smith. LaCouture isn't on those guys level as a prospect, so he would most likely drop in the eyes of NFL scouts.

No, but I don't think the gap is as big as you think. There's plenty of tape on him already and he'll be evaluated at the combine, LSU's pro day, and any team workouts he's invite to. And he'll be a year earlier with a paycheck and a year closer to his next contract. Very few people stay 5 years if they have NFL aspirations. Plus, he runs the risk of getting hurt again and having no professional career whatsoever. I hope he's back this year, but if he's not, I think he's gone. He's gonna do what's best for him, not LSU. And if he's on track to being healthy before the draft, he'd be better off declaring.

I actually agree he should leave, I just think he'll drop to the 6/7 round area, and possibly not even be drafted depending on the severity of the injury.
