Hey friends,
I recently moved here to BR for work, and have been eagerly waiting for the chance to enjoy a game day at Death Valley! I was born and raised a Utah State Aggie fan from Logan, UT. Our stadium seats 25,000 so you can imagine how excited I am to experience game day in SEC country. I've dove head first into LSU fandom (bought 4 shirts, watched every game this season, and I've been reading this board).

Lame introduction aside-- I was hoping to get some tips for how best to enjoy game day. My fiancé is flying out from Utah, so I really want to show her what this amazing college town has to offer. I figured you good people could help me with that.

A few questions:
-Best way to get tickets? I'm a college student so I'm not wealthy, but I'm willing to pay for decent seats. I'd be happy to buy from a fan.
-Which of the free tailgating areas is going to have the best atmosphere? And how early to we need to grab a spot?
-Any must sees on game day? Obviously, I've read about Victory Hill and plan on that. Any live music areas we should go to? Welcoming tailgates we should visit?
-Best eats?

I appreciate any info you guys have, I know it's not any of your jobs to answer all my questions. I hope to see some of you on Saturday:)
Geaux Tigers!

Check out the ticket exchange board .. look to the left toward the bottom. I'd say that you could get tickets on Saturday BUT with the coaching changes, well, who knows.

Yes, Victory Hill, the Band coming down the hill, Mike the Tiger ... must see items. Also near Mike's cage (by the PMAC) there is typically a band playing in the afternoon.

Hey man, Happy to have you! with the new Regime of coaching, you should see and feel the excitment of LSU football saturday. It should be electric.
Check out Mikes cage north of the stadium, indian mounds are cool east of the stadium, other than that, Walk Ons has really good food, right south of the stadium, and they have free parking at Walk Ons as well!! So its win win. You can probably find tickets outside the stadium for a decent price from someone, if not check the ticket exchange board here. You dont want to miss the band down the hill approx 2 hours before gametime, and then Pregame around 30 mins before kickoff. Try to find tickets in the 400's, or below. Enjoy yourself man, just walk around and check out the sights, its a great place to be on Saturdays!!

You'll be able to tell your kids you were a fan in the dark days before Tom Herman came in and returned LSU to the promise land.

Just walk around the stadium before kickoff. There will be plenty of people selling tickets. No joke. Prices should be reasonable.

I'm a fan of the area around the Greek Theater. I would get there in the late morning. There's not many spots left in Hart Lot anymore since they built that new dorm complex. Another good spot is right across Dalrymple from there by the Indian Mounds.

Any must sees on game day?

There's typically live music on stage at the PMAC across from the North side of the stadium. After the game, there's sometimes bands at Barcadia right outside the north gates on highland and Walk-Ons outside the south gates on Burbank @ nicholson. I would say that must sees include: Sorority Rowe (since it's homecoming), the Andonne Museum (it's on Sorority Rowe), Mike's Cage, and seeing the band come down the hill. Another fun thing to do if you're in the area of the Greek Theater is to listen to the drumline and the trumpets warm up.

By campus? The Chimes by a mile. They're literally right outside the northgate. They have the best beer selection you're going to find just about anywhere, and the food is outstanding. It's an institution. Another institution for breakfast and greasy spoon diner food is Louie's. Just watchout. Those hashbrowns taste amazing but will make you pretty much worthless the rest of the day, haha. There's another good po'boy place on Chimes Street, and Mahoney's makes a solid hamburger.

If you want recommendations for food, bars, and activities in the rest of Baton Rouge, let me know. I'm your man

Just walk up to tailgates, introduce yourself. Have fun.

Go see Mike, watch the players and the band walk down the hill.

Tickets can be found before the game. There are always people walking around holding up tickets that they're trying to sell.

Just be patient, you'll find two tickets. Don't panic if it gets close to kickoff and you don't have tickets. People that want to sell them will sell them, otherwise they have to take it home and eat it, so to speak.

If you want the peace of mind of having them before, try the ticket exchange. If you want the best prices, you can buy them around the stadium all day, particularly after the band does their thing and people start making their way into the stadium.
