Instead of spending first few months on the road, schedule will be balanced with home games at Bobby Dodd until the Bunghole is ready for use.
Fantastic news. Guess they are going to release details later about how seating will work.

ETA: Emails regarding seating location to be sent week of November 7th.

Playing at Georgia Tech is great news for the club, I agree. The stadium looks cozy and a club beginning its journey on a college campus in the middle of town can pay dividends for both club and fans. FC Cincinnati has prospered while coming into existence on a college campus. This is a much better alternative than playing on the road for weeks on end.

That's gonna be Yankee Stadium levels of narrow

It shouldn't be that narrow.

Good, I was hoping they would go this direction. No home games for half a season and expansion team struggles were going to hurt enthusiasm.
Bobby Dodd should be a cool venue for soccer as well. Quite cozy

From edge of turf to edge of turf, it's 72.3 yards wide

NYCFC's pitch is the FIFA minimum width of 70 yards. Interestingly, in that article Atlanta United says that it will work with Georgia Tech and replace the turf that exists on the sides with grass. If the resulting pitch is not 70 yards wide it will not be much more. Regardless, the setup is only for a few matches and the atmosphere will not be as awkward as Yankee Stadium because Georgia Tech's stadium is not a baseball field with seating completely disconnected from the pitch.
I am curious as to how wide the pitch is for FC Cincinnati. I feel that would be a good indicator.

Smart decision, though I hope it doesn't also mean that MBS construction will be further delayed.

This has nothing to do with stadium construction. MLS starts in March. MBS is scheduled to open June 1.

Concur. I mean I guess it's still possible construction could be delayed, but sounds like they are on track as of now. Just a means of avoiding a 3-month road trip. And I'm totally fine with that. Would have been hard to make a large cluster of home games without missing one.

That would have been the other thing. You would have had like 17 weeks in a row with a home game.

I'm conflicted. I like it for the most part. I think devotees to the club will appreciate it.
But a lot of people are pissed, and I understand that too. Season tickets were sold on the premise of being in MBS. I bought season tickets partially on the understanding that new stadium interest could drive solid resale prices. Now you're getting half a season in an aging stadium nobody but Tech fans find particularly interesting.
Would like to see the club make some promises and incentivize season ticket holders who feel like they were misled. Starting with "Yes, beer will be sold in large quantities in Bobby Dodd"

And Atlanta just signed their second homegrown player, Chris Goslin.

Are that many people really THAT mad about it? I've seen a couple on Twitter, but I have to feel most people will suck it up. I honestly didn't even flinch when I heard the news. Was just happy to be able to see the team in town starting right away.
