Who has read a Doc Ford series book?

Doc Ford is a quasi-retired black ops agent who now lives in Sanibel Island, FL, owns a small marine biology lab, has an aging boomer hippie pal named Tomlinson, and gets involved in an assortment of dangerous, action packed entanglements and adventures. Fun beach or vacation or bad weather reading. Randy Wayne White is the author.

All his stuff is based on John MacDonald and the Travis McGee books. Look up Travis McGee if you really want some good reading. I read about 20 in a year or so. Written in 60's.

I have read a few. Basically, a more modern Travis Mcgee series.

I like the series even if a knock off of older books; it's like chewing mental bubble gum. Fun but no great value.

Not knocking it because its based on earlier work, many books are. Just saying if you like Doc Ford you will LOVE Travis McGee.

I am pretty sure the publisher marketed his books/him as the next John MacDonald.
I still remember Randy for his local PBS fishing show.

I like this series a lot, especially the interplay between Doc and his sidekick Tomlinson.

I have read a lot of his books and once I start one can't put it down.
After reading a couple, my wife and I had to spend a few days at Sanibel and Captiva a few years ago.
Really enjoyed the trip.
Tomlinson really is a work of art!

Tons of shells wash up every high tide. Lots of broken ones but you can find some jewels. Wife likes sun bathing and I had my camera. The shore birds weren't particularly wild and I got some awesome pics.
You can also find live sand dollars, just can't keep them. Protected!.
To Jawja: Tomlinson is truly a unique character. Can't remember what his religion/philosophy is but he gets a lot of action from da wimmins.

Tomlinson alone makes the series worth reading. Some of the books really aren't that great but Tomlinson's character always has me laughing out loud.

I've enjoyed his Hanna Smith books. I like her character.
