MANCHESTER, England (AP) — The Spanish soccer league wants UEFA to investigate Manchester City's spending and expand its newly-launched probe into whether Paris Saint-Germain has breached Financial Fair Play rules.

Spanish league president Javier Tebas said in a statement to The Associated Press on Monday that Abu Dhabi-funded City and Qatari-owned PSG are benefiting from state aid which distorts European competitions and "is irreparably harming the football industry."

"PSG and Man City's funding by state-aid distorts European competitions and creates an inflationary spiral that is irreparably harming the football industry," Tebas said. "UEFA must enforce FFP regulations to avoid discrimination among clubs."

Yeah, City definitely aren't being investigated.

La Liga are just starting to shite their pants because Messi might actually leave and go to City. That would be detrimental to the league if Neymar and Messi left in consecutive years.

I do find it odd that people are calling for City and PSG and not Milan.

Bc you clearly don't grasp the issue

This is about both clubs being state owned. That's why La Liga is bitching

They have a legit quarrel with PSG, but City haven't been ridiculous in their net spent this summer. City offloaded a ton of high salary players.

PSG literally bought Neymar with state funds lol.

Regardless, La Liga is the last group whom should be bitching about financials. Maybe they should get the debt in their own league figured out before bitching elsewhere.

Montella had to purge Milan. They basically bought a whole new team. Guys like Honda (as much as I like him) were dead weight.

City didn't sell anyone getting anything close to what they bought them for. Still set another record for the amount of money spent in a window. Which is becoming the norm for them.

technically both clubs have done it since the take over but this PSG is over the top.

That and at least the City project at least tries to look genuine

very true especially with the history of Madrid and Barca involved with the government.

Atleti is the only club now that can occasionally challenge the big 2. I'm a Valencia fan. We'll never win the league again.

With only a €300 mil release clause

Txiki and Mansour will pay that instantly next summer if Messi says he'll sign.

Enes Unal: bought for 4.37m in 2015, sold for 12.6m
Kelechi Ihenacho: came to city academy in 2014, sold for 24.93m
Aaron Mooy: free transfer (CFG bought his entire team for 5.3m), sold for 8.19m

Bony, Nolito, and Fernando were admittedly massive flops, but it is wrong to say that city didn't sell anyone for anything close to what they bought them for.

There is some good business tucked in there, and it has gotten better, especially with this window. We spent a shite load of money, but we bought young, quality players. We would make huge profits if we were to sell Jesus, B. Silva, Mendy, etc. in the next window.

eta: Also, frick Javier Tebas. Barcelona just paid up to $150m for someone who was bought for just $15m in the previous window. I'm completely ignoring his bullshite complaint that City and PSG are state owned.

it's just another made up, meaningless standard perpetuated by the historical powers who don't want new competition.

There's a very odd class system mentality amongst soccer fans. You're not supposed to move up, and especially not in ways the upper class doesn't like. frick em.

It absolutely is. In a follow up interview, he literally said "[i]f [Manchester] United bought Neymar from Barcelona, then we would not be complaining."
