Soccer fans hate penalty kicks, correct?

Don’t most fans hate penalty kicks because it’s not real soccer?
Have they ever tried anything else? Even moving back the penalty kicks by 10’ would make it more skillful imo
What about dragging one of the goals in to near midfield (essentially cutting the field in half, and playing 5-on-5 for a little while? 5 best players from each team on a smaller field in sudden death overtime for the last several minutes before penalty kicks.

FIFA doesn't care.

It’s thrilling but a pretty shitty way to decide a winner of an intense 120+ minute match. Of course if you have teams “playing for penalties” then what happens happens.

In the first few years MLS used basically a hockey shootout
Player got the ball 35 yards(i think) and would go 1 on 1 with keeper

What if they went to corner kicks? Rotate it like college football overtime (1, 2, 2, 1). Just a thought. Defense gets called for a foul, the offense gets a PK.

And we should go back to it.

I like the possibility of moving the kick further back.
Or old MLS style but would prefer kicks from distance.

Game needs to end eventually and at least there’s some element of skill and no dumb luck like winning a coin toss.
Also, I like the away goals tiebreaker in aggregate.

Every competition is moving away from this.

We found the one person in the world who likes this dumb arse idea.

I always liked the golden goal, it discourages just parking the bus. You have to win, to win.
That said I think pks are exciting in their own way and at least prevent you from things like 22 inning baseball games. The hockey pks were kind of gimmicky I thought. No way fifa ever goes for that, but money talks

You don’t usually see a breakaway like that unless someone is offside though, and penalties are part of the game. Doubtful any of this ever changes but I don’t agree with the idea that pks are not soccer etc.
The idea that some folks don’t like that pks are a part of soccer.... well that is a much more respectable position to me.
