Betting on soccer

Just recently got on a book for the first time, typically stick with football but considering dipping in to soccer this weekend because there aren't any fb lines I love.
As a rookie soccer bettor I'm confused. Many of the lines on my site read, for example, Chelsea -1 and -1.5. WTF? Is it 1 or 1.5?

Maybe it's the halftime and fulltime spread?
(This is a complete guess, though.)

I don't think so because there is a separate bet option for 1st half.

Could be both with different odds.

It’s called an Asian Handicap. I thought the same when I started.

Football (soccer)[5] is one of the few sports in the world where a draw is a fairly common outcome. With traditional fixed odds, draws are treated as an additional outcome to the game. In other words, bettors lose when they place a wager on either team to win and the game draws. With Asian handicaps, however, the chance for a draw is eliminated by use of a handicap that forces a winner. This creates a situation where each team has a 50-50 chance of winning; similar to the odds for a basketball or football spread handicap typically offered by Las Vegas sportsbooks.
Asian handicap is a form of betting that creates a more level betting environment between two mismatched competing teams by giving a "handicap" (expressed in goals or points) to the teams before kick-off. In Asian handicap, a goal deficit is given to the team more likely to win (i.e. the Favourite) and a head start is given to the team less favoured to win (i.e. the Underdog).

You should be able to adjust the spread if you use something like bovada.
