Jamarkus McFarland a Texas/OU battle?

My brother, who is a Texas fan, forwarded me this email earlier today. Not sure where he got this stuff from, but take it for what it is worth. This may very well be Germans, oh well if so.

Many of the coaches taking some time off in recent weeks as they recharge their batteries and get ready for the grind of the season, so the recruiting news this week is pretty slim.
We did catch up with Jamarkus McFarland this week, and the five-star d-tackle said he’s pretty much put recruiting on the back burner over the course of the summer. McFarland has not taken any camp or unofficial visits, but he did say there’s a possibility that he could make one stop later this month.
“Chris Davenport and Russell Shepard wanted me to take a visit with them to LSU to hang out. I’ve thought about that. That’s the only one I’ve really thought about,” McFarland said.
The nation’s second-ranked prospect confirmed this week that his mom continues to slightly favor Texas, although he said she feels all three of his favorites are good choices.
“She had wanted to go there when she was in high school. She's already had a passion for UT,” McFarland said. “And then she bonded with the coaches after she went there and visited with them.”
This one’s going to take a long while to play out, and it doesn’t look like there are going to be any earth-shattering developments until well into the fall. There is one more rumor that came across our desk this week that’s worth mentioning … there’s actually some talk that LSU may be on the outside looking in and this one could actually be a Texas-OU battle. Again, that’s an unconfirmed rumor, but it’s certainly interesting and something on which we’ll be keeping an eye. (JS)
A few more notes on Jamarkus McFarland that we picked up in a quick conversation at the sate seven-on-seven tournament.
Although not much has changed in recent weeks, we did get a chance to talk with him briefly about the schools that he is considering and who he models himself after.
“I mainly look at Glenn Dorsey,” McFarland said. “Because he wasn’t supposed to be able to walk and then he pushed himself and took advantage of every opportunity he had.”
As far as his comments about his top three schools, there’s nothing earth-shattering, but it should give you an idea of the connotative associations he’s making with each school.
On Oklahoma- “With the football team, I like they way they go out and work hard.”
On LSU- “I liked the environment and the different culture. I like the Cajun food and how everything is down there.”
On Texas- “I like the fans and my family can come see me down there. I feel like I can go down there and compete.”

He's just nervous becasue we pose a serious threat for the kid's signature. If he tells himself OU is the #2 school, it will no doubt make him sleep better. However, with out D-lineman tradition, and the help of our few Texas commits, it doesn't make much sense to say that we're on the outside looking in. It seems to be the opposite.

If he gets his Mom and family to TS for a fall game and gets to eat some good Cajun Cookin then I like our chances. Our culture in and around Tiger Stadium is like no other in the country. I bet we have more fans that travel to our games from other states with no ties to LSU then any other school. Remember all the thread titles from football fans wanting info on where to go and what to do? I remember the guys from Iowa that left having an experience unlike any other.

yeah i read that yesterday as well. Don't know where you get it is Texas/OU. It is us and Texas for JM. I think a lot of the information that has been coming out lately points toward him coming to LSU. The sooner Davenport makes it official the quicker I think JM makes a decision IMO.

we are definitely not on the outside with JM
all I ever hear is we are his favorite, if by only a slight margin
I have got to think it is an Texas/LSU battle and I think LSU wins out if Mom gets on our side

I really like the fact that JM has stated that he wants to play next to another dominant force on the interior. (Davenport)

Someone needs to get mom to see the Academic Center ASAP and get her into a 1on1 with Miles and staff. I'm sure she might see things a little differently, hopefully.

yea, Drake Nevis (who i think will be as good as Dorsey) will be a Jr, Sidell Corley and Chancey Aghayere (if he doesnt redshirt) will be sophomores his freshman year.
add Michael Brockers and Davenport who are going to be monsters and he has a pretty good group to cause all the havoc he wants.
