Do public universities go through internal and/or external audits? If so, for what kind of compliance?

Sorry if this is a stupid question

I know LSU get audited by both. I worked for the Louisiana LEgislative Auditors and we audited them. We worked closely with their internal auditors.

Some state audit agency. I think in GA there is both the state & also a University System auditor. I recall during my MBA a short discussion of government agency audits. They have their own standards, versus FASB.

If you're an auditor, go work work for a Big 4 or another accounting firm. If the state's pay for an auditor is anything like it is for IT people, expect about 33% to 50% below market rate.

Yeah I would try somewhere else besides the state. There pay is low and pretty much anywhere has the benfits they have now. They were hiring as of July 7 because that is when I left, but the starting salary is only 38,000. They do however help pay for the CPA exam.
