So I spent this past weekend wedding venue shopping in Nola and after pricing everything (stupid expensive) we are also looking to consider doing a destination wedding with just family and wedding party in Cancun (Or other places but want to keep it to a one way flight from Dallas and Nola where most of the people are from).

Has anyone been to or had a wedding in Cancun? Looking for recommendations on a place that is an all-inclusive resort hopefully with a private beach so no fat kid is boogie boarding in the waves behind us during the ceremony lol.

TIA!

Hyatt Ziva. Family loves it. Been three times. Beautiful location with great staff.

I got married at Excellence Playa Mujeres and it was great. Only bad part was it rained hard about 2 hours before so ceremony so we had to have it inside one of the restaurants otherwise it would’ve been on the beach. But other than that the trip was awesome, all my friends still talk about it. I recommend you and the bride going 2 or 3 days before everyone else to have some time together because once friends and family get there it can definitely get more fast paced.

As far as price, my wife and I are both glad we didn’t go the traditional route. Not to knock tradition ceremonies but we had a lot of fun for far less money than a traditional wedding.

This is exactly what I was looking to hear. Thank you! About how many people made the trip? If we went traditional route we would have 12 groomsmen and 12 bridesmaids plus their significant others and family. I don't know how big these weddings can be at a resort

We didn’t have a bridal party but that was just kind of our choice. About 25-30 people total came. If you get the wedding package they have a coordinator that will go over everything to do with the ceremony when you arrive. Not 100% sure but I don’t think they have a cap on people on the wedding party.

Another thing is that the pool area closes somewhat early or at least it did in 2017. My advice would be to get an early start on pool/ day drinking if you’re into that but they do have a bar on the grounds that stays open late. If you have a large group of people like we did it can be a lot of fun.
