in response to the woods phelps argument, here is what i want to know. who are the top 5 sports people of all time? include all releveant categories such as domination, popularity, competition, etc. here are mine
1. Tiger Woods
2. Babe Ruth
3. Michael Jordan
4. Wayne Gretzky
5. Muhammad Ali
phelps could crack the top 10 on this list. he loses points because it is swimming and does not have the mass appeal as some of the other sports but he does dominate like few others have. it is the same reason that eric heiden does not rank in my top 25 but maybe top 50.

I dont like the Babe Ruth one. His legend i think has surpassed him. What the other 4 have done is much more impressive imo.

I don't think the Babe gets enough credit for what he did.

I ask because say he's 20...I GUESS I can see where he would have Tiger up there..because he wouldn't remember anyone else on his list....having Woods as greatest is nuts though.

right back when he played the balls would be used until the cover would come off.

yea, but for his other athletes, they participated in the more modern versions of their sports i think. i mean i really dont know shite about boxing, or even hockey for that matter, but im assuming it cant have changed much.

boxing
Bigger and faster then Ali's days...
Hockey has changed alot through out the years like basketball and such (speed, strength, ideas) but Gretzky and Jordan both were part of the change....in their prime they could still play today.
Ali dominated his generation..which is why I think he is top 5...but wouldn't dominate todays boxing world by sheer size of heavyweights now

i'm 28. i have some of those guys on there based on what other people have said about them. you are right i did not see them but the fact that ruth hit more home runs in a season than many teams did is remakable.

1.) Milo of Crotona late 6th century BC
He would train in the off years by carrying a newborn calf on his back every day until the Olympics took place. By the time the events were to take place, he was carrying a four year old cow on his back. He carried the full-grown cow the length of the stadium, then proceeded to kill, roast, and eat it.
2.) Jim Thorpe
3.) Achilles
4.) Babe Didrickson-Zaharias
5.) Michael Jordan

yeah it is a stretch to say now but is arguable. i mean you cant win 6 usga titles in a row. you cant be a golfer and be the richest and most popular athlete in the world. this guy has been groomed for this his whole life and has produced. he is a freak.

But who has woods faced?
Jack had to go head to head with Arnold.
Ali went head to head with the likes of Listen and Foreman.

woods has faced mickleson, singh, and others. not as good as say player or hogan but they are still pretty good nonetheless
