How much do you consider your opponent when starting a lineup? For instance, I’m in a PPR league and need to start 3 wrs with 4 to pick from:

Keenan
Woods
Jefferson
Ridley

That’s how they are ranked in just about all publications but I’m facing Matt Ryan this week. Should that matter in my decision? Currently have Ridley on the bench.

It shouldn't matter. You start who you think will get you the most points. If Ridley goes for 100 yards and 2 TDs and he is on your bench because the team you are playing has Ryan, then you're going to be sick. I do understand your question though. I occasionally glance at who I am playing against but, that is only to see if I have any wiggle room for my lineup. Sometimes I need high upside and sometimes I just need solid consistency to get a win.

If I have the stronger team, I’m more likely to play players from the same team to mitigate points (QB/WR either way). If I have the weaker team, I’m less likely to play the same team player because a boom allows me to make up more ground.

It matters if you think you need a floor play or a ceiling play to have a chance to win. It doesn't matter if you have a WR on the same team as your opponent's QB. It doesn't matter if you're QB is facing your defense.

Only matters when you're down to one match-up 1on1 on SNF or MNF. And you only consider it if the options are close enough.
