I’m trying to become really good at an approach shot from a certain distance. To me, that’s the most important shot in golf. A 3/4 wedge would be about 115 for me. Any thoughts on perfecting this shot other that repetition on the range?

Sry I wouldn’t know. I’m usually taking Putter from 115 out.

You’re not going to perfect any shot without serious repetition at the range

MHD hits his 4 iron 280 yards btw

I use the clock hour method. Go to the range and find out how far each wedge goes when you swing 9 to 3, 10 to 2, etc. Also, don’t worry about whether your arms are actually going 10-to-2, etc., just what you think is 10-2.
Play around on the range to see what ball position and weight set-up gives your most consistent results. For me, it’s weight 60% on front foot, ball about 2 inches back of center, and very little wrist action.

The only real answer I know is putting in the work to know your yardages. 115 for me is a pretty stock 52. From there I it at a target that’s 105. Learn what that swing feels like. 95 yards. Feel what that swing feels like. Repeat repeat repeat. A lot of times if I’m playing casual game nobody behind me I’ll hit my ball into the green then throw it 10 yards in front or behind and play same club from a little different distance.

For me I’d rather hit my gap wedge from 100 than trying to Nuke 56.

Honestly this philosophy goes through the entire bag. I like to know that most any iron shot I have in I can play 2 clubs from confidently. Even though I said 115 stock 52 for me I could just as easily play a PW from 115 if I wanted to. Once I grew out of trying to hit ever ball 100%

Depends how you like to hit shots. Do you like swinging hard or do you like toning it down a bit?
