Mickelson putting some distance between him and the field.

He was and still is my favorite golfer but even I never expected to see him contend in a major again. I hope he can pull it off but there’s a lot of golf left. Still can hit it out there off the tee with the younger guys at 50 and the short game will always be there.

Has to keep it on the planet for 27 more holes. If he can do that, he'll win.

As long as he can keep hitting it straight off the tee I’ll feel real good about his chances.

First bad swing all day there. Need an all world up and down to keep the Mo going

Yep, just can't make a double or triple. If he ca keep it on grass with his tee ball he'll be fine.

Wouldn't call it all world, pretty straight forward bunker shot.

He’s sub 50% sand saves for the year so a mid range bunker shot with some release isn’t really straight forward
He made it though so hopefully starts making some birdies again before the slog of the backside

I’m never very worried about Phil around the greens. Now the putter....especially those short 3-4 footers have always given him fits. He probably leads the tour in lip out putts.

He's an aggressive putter and believes in the Dave Pelz philosophy which is 3 feet past is better than being short.

You can see that Phil swagger coming out a bit, he’s feeling it right now. If he can somehow get into the clubhouse at -10 I think he’d feel very good about his chances tomorrow. Shooting even on the backside wouldn’t be a bad thing either. I feel like Either Koepka or Matsuyama will post -8.

Big time shot there to bounce back. He’s confident with the irons this week.

New tournament now. That putt at 10 hurts even more now. One half of a roll more and that one was down.

Far from over and the only other player that is playing even remotely well is Koepka.
Posted on 5/22/21 at 6:01 pm to LSUJD_04
Koepka should be leading now

Louis should be leading. Dude putting worse than anyone.

I’m not very confident anymore for Phil. That one swing changed the entire tournament, I’d have felt a lot better if he could have stayed at -9 or -10 and had a cushion but Koepka is just too good and Louis struck the ball well he just had a terrible day with the putter. That won’t happen again he’s one of the best putters on tour. I hope I’m wrong it would be great to see Phil get one last major. If he doesn’t win he will get even more talk about choking in majors and always runner up. I know he’d have rather had a week like this in the US Open though. Hard to believe a guy as good as him would have had a win at the Open.
