Gets my vote for best public course I've played in town thus far. The rate plus views of downtown as you play are unmatched in the area.

It's a short course with at least 3 driveable Par 4 greens (hit one, just right on the other 2.) Overall in good shape except for #18 green/fairway which looked awful if I'm being honest. Minimal hazards and plenty of elevation changes.

Mingo was right about walking up instead of getting a tee time.

Also I've never seen rectangular greens before

Easily an 8/10 course. Go play it of you can.

Went for a golf weekend last weekend in Dallas and played Stevens for the first time. Loved it. The multiple rectangular greens were definitely different but they had decent speed and in good shape. Never played back to back par 3s before.

Also played Cedar Crest and thought it was fun. Played Tribute on Sunday and it was a joke.

Cedar Crest, Stevens and Irving are all great values around town. I love 1, 9, 10, 13, 14 and 18 at Steven's. I just wish it was a little bit longer.

Sorry baw. Was determined around 8 this morning that we were going.

You wouldn't want me cramping your style anyway. Only managed 2 birdies and 5 pars all day.

Listen, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, but don't you ever say something so flippant ever again.

Interesting details. I last played it in 1986. $6 green fee, kinda goat-ranchy, quirky, and fun. Obviously before the redo. I’d like to play it again when in the area.

I live right across from Tenison, also not a bad public course. They redid the bunkers recently and the course is in good shape. Stevens is also great but short. Tribute is awful - maybe we missed it when it was actually in good shape?

#2 and #13 are the only drivable par 4’s, and 13 only if you hit a big draw or blast over the trees (I’ve done it a few times but usually just lay up over the bunkers).

What other driveable par 4’s are you talking about? You trying to drive #3? Over all those trees up the hill?

11 and then you can get it right up in front on several. 1 and 15 for sure. I can drive 3 with 3 wood.

11 isn’t driveable from the tips, you can get it close but it’s 350+ from the tips with a bunker in front

But why the hell would you? Yea it’s like 260 around the corner but you’re blasting it through the woods and hoping? Why?

okay now I know you’re full of it. I know you’re a long hitter but 1 plays over 400 yards from the tips

I could see 15, I’ve been close to that one since it’s so downhill

I meant 2, my bad.

And 1 and 15 I said you can get close, I've driven it right up in front of the bunker on 1 and right up in front on 15.

1 is 400 yards but it's downhill and you can catch a big first bounce. There's no way your going to get it on the green because it's raised back up but you can get it within 20 or 30 yards. Same with 11, it's dead down hill.

On 15, carry that little pot bunker and get a nice first bounce and you're right there

One of my favorite courses I played in Dallas consistently when I lived there. Also loved Cedar Crest. I really only saw two and thirteen as driveable. The view on 15 of Dallas is probably the best view of the skyline in the city. So awesome. I really loved holes 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 15, 16, and 18. Cedar Crest has one of my favorite par 5s I've played in Dallas, number 14. Either way, really miss playing those tracks especially Cedar Crest walking 9 at twilight rate for $9.
