Article 1

Article 2

Other European countries begin to ramp up protocols as Covid cases spike.

Great. We head to Germany Wednesday for a cruise we rescheduled from last April, followed by side trips to the Czech Republic and Poland. Is what it is and unless Viking cancels or redirects, here we go! Wish us luck.

They are going to be locking down forever. They are out of ideas.

I’m avoiding Europe right now for that very reason (though I am sure some countries are the exceptions).

They don’t have the courage to just live with the virus and accept what comes.

Well, seriously, from what I've gleaned, it's if you're not vaccinated where you might run into some roadblocks. Hell, we're triple vaxxed right now so we're going to travel and live our lives. Way too much worry an cancellations over the past year. Can't wait on this 'ish for ever.

We were prepped that there may be some limitations we have to deal with (vaccine cards, PCR tests, mask, etc.), but we knew that going in and are fine with it.

And, FWIW, it seems like you could easily travel to Spain or Italy with almost zero concerns. Not like this summer, where things were still opening up, but doable.

It is very sad to see.

They traded their freedom for safety and now they have neither.

FYI, welp, plans modified by Viking. Not that concerned about the changes. Business model to me is first class. Already offering additional perks for what's happened, which we'll use one day.

While travel restrictions have eased in most destinations around the world, the impacts of COVID continue to make recovery sporadic and often unpredictable. As you may have heard, the German government has announced a general lockdown in the state of Saxony. Your voyage includes time in this region and unfortunately it will be impacted by the German government's restrictions. Therefore, we have made the decision to modify your itinerary to sail through Saxony as outlined below. We are happy to report that this modified itinerary includes additional Christmas markets in Hannover, Magdeburg and Dessau, in addition to Berlin, Wittenberg and Prague. At this time, all are expected to operate as planned.

As a token of our appreciation for your understanding, we have added a $100 shipboard credit to your account for this voyage for each guest. Please note, any optional excursions in Saxony will be refunded to your original form of payment within 21 business days.

Additionally, we will extend a 25% Future Cruise Voucher—based on your cruise fare—that can be applied to any Viking voyage. The paid value of the voucher is based on any monies paid and/or any vouchers applied. The voucher can be used toward any future voyage with Viking, river or ocean, and will be emailed to you after your return home.

It’s all good. Depending on how much time you have in Hannover work in a visit to Bergen-Belsen by way of Celle

I’m not going to Europe or Australia until there’s a long, long period of no ridiculous restrictions.

Thanks. Always wanted to go to Bergen-Belsen. Have been to Dachau. We plan on going to Auschwitz on this trip as well.
