I know. Very sad. And it's going to happen other places too, whether by intent or nature. It's all bad. I was just making the point that this levee break isn't going to prevent more flooding downstream.

We used to hunt literally within 5 miles of where you are talking about the sand boil around Grand Lake. Are there any other problem areas around there other than this particular boil?

Arkytiger--How full is Lake Chicot at present?
I ask because several years ago I decided (when traveling to see relatives from DFW) to drive across the southern portion of Arkansas. When I drove into Lake Village I noticed Lake Chicot for the first time and thought it is very beautiful (I've been back twice since then).

I know there's some sort of ACOE structure on the north end of the lake, probably a diversion gate of some sort. Is it being used to take some pressure off the River (and fill Chicot in the process)?

pumping plant at levee is used to divert run off from north of lake village to the river . cannot pump river water to chicot . huge structure built into levee

With the Mississippi in its current state, can the plant take all the runoff from the streams, etc. north of Lake Village and divert it into Chicot instead? (Thus helping the cause by keeping water out of the flooded river)

I have some good friends that hunt right past that structure at Ashbrook Island.
