But if you want my honest opinion, you should go all out and hit Stella, and then eat Wendy's $.99 menu the rest of the time. That's just me. Stella is amazing.
I'd definitely disagree with this advice. There are too many wonderful, reasonably priced options in this city to blow your entire budget on one meal.

VERY casual places with cheap but good food:
Ugly Dog Saloon - Damn good barbeque for ridiculously low prices. In the warehouse district on Tchoupitoulas and Higgins.
Cafe Masperos - If there's a line out the door, don't be alarmed, there's no waiting inside, so 3-4 parties ahead of you is really only a 15 minute wait. Very generous portions on "po-boys" (actually served on huge hardroll type bread). I suggest the pastrami. The french onion soup is money! It's on Decatur St. right across from Jax Brewery.
Mike Serios - Chock full of sports memorabilia - mostly LSU stuff. (Big LSU supporter) It's a good poboy joint, as good as Mother's. The Muff is above agerage there. Get the Mikey - roast beef and ham with swiss and gravy. It's on St. Charles one block from Canal St.
