I did'nt say the tirimisu sucked, I just said it was frozen and bought from a distributor, just like most of the rest in town.

225 Magazine doesn't favor advertisers. Seriously a friend of mine owns a restaurant that is on the list and he refuses to advertise w/them b/c of stuff an article once said about his place.

Every publication in BR save for the Advocate favors advertisers. Obviously the list isn't 100% bought and paid for, but it's fairly transparent when you see places like Superior being voted the #1 Mexican restaurant.

The guy who owns 225 Magazine is Honduran, he wouldn't even given any publicity to a Honduran restaurant in town (that ironically the manager of Superior Grill frequents) until after he was hounded about it for a year.

Think about what you just posted, your restaurant friend refuses to advertise with 225 Magazine, because of a supposedly negative writeup. You think the biggest advertisers to the magazine are going to keep shelling out dollars if they aren't getting favorable reviews or rankings in the magazine? You summed up the whole situation without realizing it.

McCollister is a co-publisher, but both of those publications are also owned by Julio.

I'm 2 lazy to do this, but we should come up with our own list like what was done for the tigerdroppings 100 movies that don't suck. To get it right maybe we vote for a top 5, then give everyone a chane to visit each establishment (if they haven't already) and revote for a top 3.

best pizza, burger, mexican, breakfast etc.

i think you'll find that 225's "best of" list correlates quite nicely with who is advertising in the magazine ...

It's actually sort of a made up dessert that's amazingly easy to do. Why anyone would buy it premade, I have no idea.

quote:

There is some debate regarding tiramisu's origin, as there is no documented mention of the dessert before 1983.[1] In 1998, Fernando and Tina Raris similarly claimed that the dessert is a recent invention.

i worked at a country club grill for a while in high school. the desserts there were all from sysco (including cake and cheesecake). these desserts are damn good. they come presliced and individually wrapped. so if you're in a restaurant, and your dessert appears to be perfectly sliced, it's probably from sysco. this isn't a terrible thing, they are pretty good. but this is why i don't like to order desserts unless its at a nice restaurant and they have something special
