Do you see the little cutting board on the counter? My husband has been instructed to use it and leave the rest of it alone. J/K. Maybe.

Actually, it has a Waterlox finish, so we're not going to be chopping directly on it. We intended to get a finish that would require us to oil it regularly and we could have used it as a chopping block. There was a miscommunication with the kitchen designer. Honestly, I'm kind glad she misunderstood.

Thanks for saying that the wall color brings out one of the best shades. I completely agree. Woulda coulda shoulda. I've decided I'm going to learn to love the decisions we made. Now I just need to learn to love imperfection.

Count, you making fun of my excitement over a little bling in the kitchen? I love my glass door knobs! I have them on three regular interior doors and a pair of French doors.
Who me? I would never do such a thing.

My eye is drawn to old style and unique objects that stand out. I instantly noticed the 1930'ish styled glass door knobs before I noticed anything else. I was not making fun, just my statement of approval. That and my old grandmother had a few in her house and I haven't seen that in years!

They were a last minute decision and I thought I found a way to do them on the cheap. But um, sometimes those plans don't work out (but I could've done much worse, price wise).

To me, they added a little 'up bling' to what is a very nice remodel.

See, I can be nice when I try real hard. And if I was gay, interior decorating would really do it for me

Darla, it looks wonderful! I've been through your pics 3 times. And, I ADORE the glass door knobs. You've made me think I might want to change some of mine out in my house.

Have you gotten to cook in it yet?

Thanks, Count.

Gris: Yes ma'am! I love the gas stove.

I haven't been creative or inventive yet. My son recently moved back to town and he wanted a rice and gravy meal. We have only done a few standards, but give me some time!

I also love the way it all functions. Except for under the sink, I have no bottom cabinets, all drawers. My dishes are in drawers and so are pots and pans. It's great! I'm still doing some arranging and rearranging. My poor husband actually stuck some labels on a few drawers so he'd know where things are. Too bad I have plans to change them up again. I have to get it just right. ;-)

Wait... hold on just a minute.

You actually cook?

Any other socially redeeming values we're unaware of?

Darla, it looks fantastic. If you dont mind me asking, what was the total cost of the renovation?

Beautiful.

What brand of hood is that? Zephyr? Looks like one I have.

I've mentioned this before but I ended up remodeling two kitchens in 1 calendar year. Both were total gut jobs. So I know you are having conflicting feelings of both rushing into the kitchen and cooking for days and eating out for the rest of your life.

But get in that kitchen and cook!

I love that sink. The only thing I'm certain about my kitchen remodel, that probably won't happen until everything in it is broken and I'm trying to make gumbo on propane burner outside in freezing rain, is that I'm going to get the biggest sink I can find. If y'all see pictures of someone with a bathtub in a tiny kitchen, it'll probably be mine.

I don't post very often, but that looks awesome. And not to bring the focus back to the door knob, but where did you find it? I have a similar one in my house and it has definitely seen better days, but I can't find a similar one anywhere close to me.

We actually have a couple of knobs like that on the French doors leading into my wife’s office. They used to be in her grandparent’s house and her dad gave them to her several years back. My wife knew she had to find somewhere in our house to use them, and her office was where they ended up. I have to admit...they are kind of cool. I’m not one to be attached to sentimental things like that, but if it makes her happy…I’m on board.

BoredOne, I bought them through www.myknobs.com, but the maker is Nostalgic Warehouse. If you Google crystal door knobs, you will find a number of choices. Some of the higher priced ones are more than $100 each, but these were more reasonable.

ETA: Crusty, how nice that you were able to reuse some! Ours are not vintage. I looked at a few antique stores around, but finally decided I wanted matching ones for three doors and one set of interior French doors.
