Seriously, he talked about BR being home and treating employees right then shafted a bunch of employees when he moved to Dallas. I know for many he offered them their position in Dallas, but said there would be no raise because it was the same cost of living.

In what ways is he an asset to this community besides his restaurants creating jobs

That alone seems like a pretty good reason...

But, if you need more:

quote:

In addition to Cane’s quality, Graves refuses to compromise his dedication to the community and his commitment to give back to the people who have given so much to him. Graves carries his tremendous success in business over to a wide array of philanthropic endeavors. As an active community partner, Graves and Raising Cane’s have given more than 25 percent of their profits back to the communities where Raising Cane’s restaurants operate. Raising Cane’s gives back to each community with an emphasis on schools, food banks, active lifestyles, canine assistance and business and entrepreneur organizations.

Raising Cane’s annual giving includes:

Schools: supporting more than 2000 educational institutions, including colleges and universities, community colleges, high schools, middle schools and elementary schools through athletics programs, teacher appreciation, student organizations and academics.
Feeding the Hungry: organizing massive food drives, including “Raising Cans with Raising Cane’s,” and making significant donations to more than 30 food banks.
Active Lifestyles: supporting hundreds of events that promote an active lifestyle, including community races, walks, sports leagues and tournaments.
Business & Entrepreneurial Organizations: being actively involved in more than 75 professional organizations, including chambers of commerce, young professional organizations, Junior Achievement, SCORE, visitors’ bureaus and city development organizations.
Pet Welfare: working with more than 50 humane societies through support and sponsorship of their events and programs. Raising Cane’s has made significant investments to six dog parks in Louisiana. Additionally, Raising Cane II makes weekly visits to hospitals and nursing homes as a certified pet therapy dog.
In December of 2008, Graves and his wife Gwen participated in Secret Millionaire, a philanthropic reality show on FOX. They spent one week posed as ordinary people in South Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, a community destroyed by Hurricane Katrina–the largest natural disaster in U.S. history. The couple was challenged to find people trying to make an impact in the community. The people, whom they described as “angels walking the earth,” inspired the couple. These people put the needs of others in their community before themselves, and the Graveses donated approximately $400,000 to three area groups to help them realize their dream of helping others.

Graves is an involved member of many national and local organizations, including the National Restaurant Association, Young Presidents Organization and United Way, where he currently serves as a member of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society. Graves serves on the board of the BREC Foundation, the fundraising of Baton Rouge’s Parks and Recreation Commission. Raising Cane’s is responsible for working with BREC to bring four Raising Cane’s Dog Parks to the Greater Baton Rouge area. Graves regularly guest lectures at universities and high school classes on entrepreneurship, leadership and active community involvement and delivered the 2010 commencement address at Louisiana State University.

Once a McDonald’s franchisee, Graves’s wife Gwen sold her business to spend more time focused on their children and the community. In addition to helping with the many Raising Cane’s community endeavors, Gwen visits hospitals weekly with Raising Cane II as part of the dog’s pet therapy certification.

He didn't 'shaft' anyone.

That's business.

He had to move the corp. office there so that he could compete for top-tier management. It's not his fault that bright, successful CEO's aren'y clamoring to live and work in BR.

And, as for the cost of living, BR is not as cheap as many think it is, and Dallas is not as expensive as many think it is. But, yeah...he's the bad guy for offering them positions there.

I get that there's a natural resentment towards ownership/management when situations like that arise, but most of the time, and I believe it to be the case with Cane's, the feelings are unwarranted.

No, I'm merely one who can look-up information and distribute it when a question is asked.

I neither know Todd Graves or visit his restaurant frequently.

But most on here piss and moan about things that they:

A) know nothing about

and

B) Are too lazy to actually look-up themselves

Therefore, I try to bring a bit of logic and knowledge to a thread from time-to-time.

Any other smart-arse questions?

Seems like you care.

BTW, I'm assuming that this is completely false, right?

I think it was great of him to offer the jobs. Not saying they are far off in cost of living, just not the same. Some asked for the 2-4k it would take to make it a lateral move and were flatly told no chance. He was offering a couple grand reward if you stayed on until the day they left BR, not sure what the final number was that stayed until the end. Many jumped quick because the work environment turned sour in the last year or so they were in BR.

Can't remember the exact wording of the press release but they are still based in BR according to him. Just none of the corporate office is here. Him, the dog, and a few management remain.

Nope. All completely true.

Not under anything. You asked a question, I answered it, then you responded like a smart-arse. Which was confusing because you said that you weren't trolling and that you were actually interested.

Kinda waiting for you to thank me...for enlightening you.

I think you put a little too much thought into people's forum posts.

And no 1960 was not correct, it should be 1970, my mistake.

And, yeah, that's when the economic shite was hitting the fan. But, on a good note, it does look like some BR people made their way over.

And, yes, my posts can be handsome...at times.

One was a homegrown hot chick with big ta-ta's, not positive but that should go under "screwed BR" column.

Really doesn't bother me that the guy moved the company, just a lot of the stuff I read in the 3-5 years before they left town seemed like he wanted to be like Lamar and try to make it work here. Always talked about how BR and the people who helped build the company meant a lot, then in the end a lot were treated like an employee number. He does a lot in the way of philanthropy, wouldn't and couldn't argue that.

Well, you know the saying:

"The best laid plans..."

He probably had no clue how fast they were going to grow and how successful they would wind-up being. I do know that he tried to find a CEO while in BR and couldn't find anyone good enough that would relocate there...which sucks. So he moved it to Dallas where there are a shite-ton of restaurant HQ's, and he could pick whomever he wanted. Not to mention, with the growth - comes more travel...and I think we all know that it's easier to catch flights out of DFW, than BTR.

So what i've learned is that no one is allowed to complain about the inarguable decline in quality of Canes food relative to the inarguable increase of price of Canes food because Todd Graves is a philanthropist? Good to know. So once Canes starts frying their chicken in ammonia (not too far away), his charitable donations will outweigh any other considerations...Great. So glad Food and Drink has turned into the OT

Who said that?

Complain all you want about product and prices. That was not why I hoped in here.
