As far as having the best 15 cent fries and 15 cent burgers, Burker Chef beat the hell out of McDonalds. Their fries were made from fresh potatoes. Of course back in the day, McDonald's used fresh potatoes too. Burger Chef burgers had a good flame broiled taste. We used to go to the one on Plank (down the road from Frosttop)and the one on Fla. Blvd. Even though Hardees bought them out, Hardees Burgers are nothing like old Burger Chef as far as taste goes. I remember when Count Macabre(sp) visited Frosttop and they came out with the Macabre Burger in his honor. This was growing up in north Baton Rouge in the late fifties and early sixties. I even remember the Chuck Wagon on Plank Road. It is now where the Burger King is on Plank across from St.Gerard's.

Tonys were the best. We used to go there after 5 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Back in the day they even had a What A Burger near Tonys. Who could forget the old Regina theater? We used to go see a couple of movies such as David and Lisa while in high school. Whenever we bought a drink there, we used to cover the top of our cup with our hand because of roaches falling from the ceiling.

Ya'll need to STFU about Tony's. All you're doing is making my mouth water for that chocolate icing that used to break off and fall in your lap, leaving you with a chocolate flavored chunk of sweet sugary goodness.
