Aw shite.

What did you think? Honestly.

Totally different. The real ale 18th wasn't as identifiable as a gose. Not as sour and salty as yours. It was more fruity with the lime addition and I picked up more phenolic flavors from the yeast. I enjoyed them both.

I've seen YouTube videos of people adding salt to their Real Ale to make it more like a Westbrook Gose.

We're thinking of making a lime/margarita type Gose next. I think Cigar City has made a margarita Gose.

My wife spit it out and lectured me about warning her before she tasted it. S14 has to be on the right track.

You should have told her the real name and the background story on why women like Goses.

Pffft. You just get a friend to drive 14 hours one way in their SUV to carry the boxes back for you. Pretty certain no explosion risk.

I'm reading this as "Not good, at least in comparison and predicated upon how well it exemplifies the style."

I'm not really sure what is supposed to be a standard for the style. It is kind of a recent development here. Haven't had one from the motherland to develop a true baseline, but the real ale one seems pretty low on the salty/sour scale compared to others, could be the fruit offsetting some of it.

I enjoyed the Old Rail one a lot. That one had a nice balance.

I gave her the full story, she knows about the Gose. Had to drink with one hand on the back of her head forcing it to the glass...that is her "technique"

For real though. She loved the ginger flavor. I think it was a little too tart on the first taste, but the second was better. She had to work so couldn't have a whole glass.

My understanding is that the saltiness is an essential component. Then I think the citrus just serves to balance it. But I'll agree with you that I'm a little under educated on what exemplifies an ideal Gose. It was probably rash of me to make such a generalized statement.

That being said, GoldenGateGose4Lyfe

LMFAO

Yeezy. If you get a chance to try Anderson Valley's Gose(with some ridiculously long name) in a purple can do it.

It's my favorite so far and is quite tart. Less salty than Westbrook's.

Gatorade of beers.

UT, Internet just hiccup for you too?

Yea, the Real Ale Gose seems to be more like a lime forward wheat beer...of course I'm using Westbrook as the flag bearer of the Gose style.

I broke out the CCB margarita Gose at the Jamboree. You must not have been there yet. It was interesting, but nothing special IMO.

I still need to try the Anderson Valley Gose

shite. Missed that I guess. We were thinking of doing our own little thing to it anyway and can't imagine it being bad.

I liked it.

Maybe one of the least favorite I've had, but still enjoyable. Wasn't bad at all.

Will do

I'm actually still due for a taste of the Westbrook. Here in about 11 days I'll get some, which I'm excited about. It's never been readily available in my travels, but the lady friend secured some to share. I'm excited to finally try the "flagship" American Gose.

Definitely worth a try. It would be a great beer for lounging around the pool or at the beach

Tried it at the jamboree. Tasted like a margariya, it was weird.
