I did not know they did a seafood arancine....I thought it was just crawfish or traditional beef.
Don't know if I would like the seafood but the crawfish did not sound good until I tried it...now it's my favorite.

I have my own feelings about Gino's, but if the girlfriend likes it then that's all that matters.
A little non-food advice - dress for your date and don't worry so much about the destination. Be comfortable but look nice for her.
Wine-wise if you are looking for a sweeter white you may want to look at a frascati. They are usually very reasonably priced and will certainly pair better than a Riesling with Italian cuisine. If you decide on a red sauce with your meal, try a lighter Barbera or Sangiovese.
Have a good time, and post your review!

Nothing wrong with Gino's at all. I once had an a-hole waiter who was just slow and was a guido.
As for food, the Chicken Parm, Spaghetti and Meatballs and Veal have all been really good.

I don't know if they have a seafood arancini either. I'm had the crawfish and the beef. I mentioned seafood canneloni, which I didn't care for.

I'm not a big arancini fan and just don't see the hype but everyone I go with has to have it including my wife. I'll take a bite but meh...
I'm big on the tortellini carbonara, the veal piccata and my favorite the spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and basil. Good, light. Lawrence bread meh...same as the arancini. Good, just not my favorite.
I personally like standing at the bar and having a glass of wine or two there prior to sitting. I just like the bars atmosphere.

I like to eat in the bar while the piano player is there.

I like Gino's and have had many good meals there. Wish we had something on par with it here.

agreed--sounds good but avoid at all costs. Get the veal chops.

Sorry I was reading canneloni and it was arancine in my brain....I am with you there...the more traditional canneloni would be my choice...1st wife got me started on the crawfish arancine...and I fell in love with it...now I have to have a fix every 2 months or so...other than that I am traditional Italian.

I like it with the red sauce.

The food isn't as good as the prices would suggest.
They have several entrees for $12.00. I don't know how much cheaper a sit down meal could get.

Every time I went, there was inadequate service.
Maybe it's just you then, but every time I go Gino's is just about the only place in town that actually has professional waiters instead of college kids who don't give a care. The service has always been excellent when I went.

I will side with you on this one...never had a bad meal there...never had bad service there...and I find the price very fair...but I don't eat a lot of the specials or veal and I like the house red.

well, i'm pretty excited about it...we're going saturday night and i think i'll take a posters advice and sit at the bar to have a few drinks before we sit, then ask to be seated in a quiet spot considering it's a special night (kind of...to me it's just the first 6 months of a really long relationship...hopefully)..
i'm definitely going to get the lawrence bread b/c it sounds good and it's something i'll know she'll like...she's going to get the spaghetti and meatballs for sure and i'm gonna ask for the red and white cannelloni

i'm a fan of reds myself...but she likes the white, fruity wines...i'd love it if they had a Beaujolais but they might not considering it is an italian restaurant

The bar is tiny. If the restaurant is crowded, which it may well be on a Saturday night, you might have a hard time standing at the bar for a few drinks. You could make a reservation and request a table in the bar. Can't say that it's quiet, but the piano provides some good ambience, if you like that sort of thing. When the restaurant is crowded, I don't think any part of it is really "quiet". It's always pretty lively when I'm there, regardless of which section I'm in. I like lively, though.

BR desperatley needs more local spots with heart like Gino's.
