The only problem I have is that it is not an original idea like everyone thinks it is.
I don't remember Todd Graves ever claiming the idea was his and his alone. He spoke to a class I was in during undergrad and openly credited Guthries as where he got the idea. He just took the idea, brought it to BR, and ran with it (and more power to him for making it work).

Dont think the one on Coursey will fail because that area needs restaurants. But they do need to improve quality of the food. Doesnt have to be amazing but they are on par with the Calendars right down the road. Which isnt saying much.

I agree, they really don't need to raise their game much and can live off of Chimes East overflow.

I don't think jealousy has much to do with taste buds and knowing certain food SUCKS!

How Much Of The Walk-On's/Raising Canes Criticism ........
...... is driven by jealously that guys around the same age or younger than those of us that post on here are getting filthy rich ?
As others have noticed (smartass and others), many on TD like to pretend that they are someone else on the internet. The OT millionaires are e-above most places that real people eat at. I think that is the reason for most of the hate that places like Cane's, Walk-On's, Chili's, Logan's, Lone Star gets from these boards. It is funny to me that most people who I know in real life like or love these places, and these places always have business. The same thing can be said about the fools on the movie board. I know that the amount of money a movie makes is not the only factor to consider when pondering if a movie sucks or not, but it is funny to me that a movie that makes over 400 million dollars is torn apart on the board and is said to be the worst movie on earth...must not be if it had that much repeat viewing....
...btw, I hate fake internet fools!

Cane's - good for what they serve good marketing
Walk-On's - good at choosing locations bad at cooking
Chili's - Great drink specials and good value
Logan's - I prefer Texas roadhouse but decent
Lone Star - bleh... For the same money there are just better places like Logans.

Although I like Texas Roadhouse, I like Logan's more. My wife says that it feels like she is being disloyal when we go to T.R.

We go to Lone Star a couple times a year. It is good, but I disagree with you comment on one point. Logan's is better...but is is cheaper than Lonestar...which makes Logan's the logical choice between the two.

How bad do you think the one on Coursey is going to fail?
based on what restaurants generally do in this part of town .. their chances aren't bad at succeeding ..

i don't feel like starting a whole new thread at the risk of being attacked by the "germans police" .. but what happened to the one on acadian thruway ?

After years of declining sales it mercifully caught on fire. The building was sold and a mexican restaurant based out of Lafayette will open there sometime this fall.

that's the new hot discussion now -- that graves ripped off the idea from guthries
I wouldn't call that a new hot discussion, people have been talking about the Cane's concept being lifted from Guthrie's ever since Cane's started opening up locations outside of BR.
Also, I don't think it's the lifting of the concept that people have an issue with, it's that he supposedly used the exact same recipe for the sauce.
It doesn't make a difference to me one way or another, if those guys are making money, more power to them. I don't eat Cane's (or any place that sells fried chicken) because the food is terribly unhealthy. FWIW, the food at Cane's tastes great, though, and the tea is the best in BR.

To hell with the morons, Rag. Post what you want...but yes, it flamed away! The manger at the Oneal location claims that it will reopen, but it has been closed for a long time.

You sure about that?

No. That is why I left it pragmatically open for doubt. The Oneal manager told me this a couple months ago. He said it would open, but like I said, it has been closed for a long time. I would like to see something "new" and "fresh" in that area, anyway.

I think we need Big J to join the discussion.
Side story- My grandfather owned a retail business. He pretty much was the business. Everyone in my little small town knew and respected him. My dad and uncle really had no desire to take over. Well my grandfather died and my dad and uncle tag teamed the store for about a year. One night it burned to the ground and we collected insurance. To this day one of my parents friends calls my mom- "torch."
