is the traffic any better there than the rest of Metairie?

It can actually be worse, because you have the added factor of a train running directly across one of the busiest parts.

But, as TA said, it's for the most part, easier to get into New Orleans from there.

Occasionally I'm in B.R. for a real estate seminar. PF Changs is near, and I've eaten there twice. I enjoyed it both times, and it was packed. Apparently a whole lot of people like it.

You will learn one day that this has almost nothing to do with if a place is good or not many times.
Location and slick marketing will bring people in almost regardless of what is going on in the place.
I have an Applee Bees by my work that is terrible, but always crowded. Same for the Red Lobster and Bennigans.

P.F. Changs ain't bad in my book, but there are many better options out there and quite a few are cheaper.

PF Changs, while an overrated national chain, is nowhere near being bad, despite also being not exactly authentic fare Chinese.

And by BR's vast wasteland of Chinese restraunt standards, it is absolutely nowhere close to being the worst.

I went when they first opened and ordered Sweet and Sour Pork. The waitor said "Mam, here at PF Chang's we encourage you to try more of a diverse menu selection". WHAT THE HELL?

That's funny shite.

Do the waiters still make a big deal about mixing up the dipping sauces by hand at the table? It's been about five years since I've eaten at one.

Yeah and they get offended if you want to mix your own.

Lots of trees and some nice houses in the area, but nothing too special.

Have you driven through Farnham Place, Northline, Iona and the rest of Metairie Club Gardens?

Atherton, Dorington, Livingston, Arlington, etc around Mark Twain's is very nice but not close to Metairie Club Gardens (which surrounds MCC).

Old Metairie is totally different than New Metry...it is ridiculously safe, property values are very high...there is tons on Metairie Rd. and I am 10 minutes away from any interesting area of NOLA and from the shopping/big box areas of Elmwood/Metairie. Jesuit was 5 minutes away and Loyola law was 10-15...its close to everything without having any crime problems or the generic suburban nature of Metairie.

My heart rests in NOLA, but as someone who wants to raise a family and knows real estate (I am a licensed agent), there is no better area to live in IMO.

A lot of that area still looks like a bomb went off in it.

Of course, Big Joe's house is still the shite.

I totaly agree, but I was looking at it from an angle of someone who was looking to drive through and find something to do or a place to drink, etc.

If I had the money, I would def. be living over there. I am in the poor part of new old Metairie, which is off of Bonabel on the other side of the interstate.

MUCH less than new metairie becasue you cruise dow airline and catch the interstate by Tulane/Carrolton instead of the congestion around causeway.

I dont make that commute everyday, but I went to Jones Walker in Place St. Charles for a document review recently, and it took me 15-20 (all traffic I encountered was on the exit off ramp and right in the heart of the CBD.

From OM, you can shoot down Causeway to River Road and be in Riverbend in no time or shoot down Airline to get to downtown. Also, I cut through Fountainbleu all the time to get to uptown (the Dominican shortcut).

Cool. So old Metairie is kind of like the nice parts of Mandeville, just a little closer?

If you are talking about old Mandeville, maybe. Lots of older houses and nice big trees.

A few of the streets in Old Metairie are almost all house around a million plus.
