where is this milk coming from?

~25% from the official Kleinpeter farm on Highway 16 just past Pine Grove, the rest bought from other dairy farms.

If you can get a good batch (mostly meaning one that made it to the store without obvious freezing/unfreezing issues), this is the best plain coffee ice cream in the ice cream aisle, IMO.

Honestly this is the only problem I've ever really had with it

I've had it taste freezer burnt before so I figured it might be a transportation problem or maybe they were just new to the business and didn't know the correct way to handle their product during production or something.

I love kleinpeter milk, but their ice cream is a big fail IMO.

New Orleans Ice Cream Co. is an infinitely better store-bought, local ice cream.

Thank you. I've always wondered why Kleinpeter has this huge facility on Airline with no cows. I'm used to the dairies being in the same place as the cows and vice versa.

Yeah I'm not really seeing the disparity in quality either. I really liked the kleinpeter the last couples times I got it.

I just think it's funny that people are saying that it's too airy yet I doubt they'd say the same about creole creamery which seems like it has more air than kleinpeter to me.

Kleinpeters did have a herd of milk cows behind
the dairy(before I-10 was constructed)and there
was also Kleinpeter's store by the tracks on
Highland Rd.

Is that what the problem is? I practically ran to the store when it came out a few years back, and I agree that the texture was just wrong.

Glad you posted that it's improved! I'll likely pick some up next time I'm at the grocery store.

RIP K&B Ice Cream

This. My dad and I used to go get a giant container of vanilla K&B ice cream when I was little. RIP.

Passed by the dairy near Pine Grove/Montpelier today -- nice looking facility. Enough cows to look like a serious dairy. They apparently buy from local dairies in LA.

Their location on Airline was once practically country. Now, not so conducive to content, productive cows, apparently.

After reading this thread last week I finally found a small container of the Care Au Lait........

HOLE E Crap.

That stuff is way too good. I normally never have ice cream in my house and I'll have to try to forget about this one quick because my waistline will never be the same if I keep picking it up.

Yeah the Cafe Au Lait Kleinpeter Ice Cream is money...

I'm pretty sure they use community coffee in it

They do. Says it right there on the container.

I put a spoonful into my coffee Saturday morning. Did the trick.

Rue Beignet has an ice cream freezer right next to the drink cooler.

It's the best skim milk I've ever tasted, wherever it comes from.
