personally don't rate Zee's or PD or NOLA that high. I'd have them in the lower 7s. He gave my personal current favorite (Fiori's) a 7.8, and I think it's much better - not just a little bit, but much better - than anything in NOLA. He generally prefers a very light, thin, almost cracker-y crust.

why the 7.8 .. what are the elements that boost it?

I posted a Di Fara slice in one of these threads and the downvotes rained on me.

No one pays attention to the people running their mouth about it. Vocal minority.

Diversion is very good by Louisiana standards. But compared against top pizzas nationwide, it doesn’t stack up. If you took a Diversion pizza to Brooklyn, Queens, New Haven, etc they’d throw it in the trash.

Things that make a big difference to me are a well-seasoned oven, where you can actually taste the essence of the years and years and thousands and thousands of pizzas that have baked in it, and a good sauce.

Don't get me wrong, I like Diversion. But let's be real.

There's a certain segment who just can't let anyone be happy. They were acting like these local businesses should tell him to frick off and they don't need his money.

Yeah, easy for the keyboard warrior who doesn't his life savings tied up in a business coming off a disastrous 2 years for the service industry.

Pointless virtue signalling by whiny bitches.

Lol. It’s 2.4 garbage when you’re sober but about a 12 when you’re drunk

Diversion is in the argument. So is Pourhouse in Hammond. Both have excellent pepperoni pies

I could never put my finger on what put a great pizza over the top for me. It must be this ancient oven essence you speak of.

Moon, you should look into making a pizza vlog to share your knowledge.

It’s the same as a place in Brooklyn making gumbo and the people saying, “Damn, this is just as good as anything in Louisiana” without really knowing any better.

I actually worked in the pizza business for about a decade at a place called Blandinos. I thought we put out a really good product but I’m
the first to admit that it didn’t measure up to Pepe and John’s and Prince Street and Lombardi's and diFara and Sally’s and hundreds of others. Heck, in Queens alone I can think of ten places off the top of my head that are better than anything I can get down here.
