I'll have to try the IF out after reading all the positives about it. That means I'll have to eat my spoons of peanut butter right after supper instead of 8:30

I'm somewhat interested in the IF, but not sure about how I would go about my workout schedule. I'll probably sit down tonight and read over some of those documents lsu777 has from the IF thread to gain some more info.
Instead of basketball while fasted, walk. Then lift. Then wait to eat. If you are worried about muscle loss, take BCAAs pre and post lifting.

I did a 24hr fast the day after I had pizza two weeks ago.
I was hungry at the end.

Not sure. I got in the car and turned it on right after he mentioned the name, and said it's most like a authentic Chicago deep dish.
Maybe Lester or one of those other Metry baws know.

I enjoy food too much to not partake for an entire day or two each week. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.
It is actually way easier than you think especially once you get used to it. Eat a big lunch then just skip dinner. Depending on what time you wake up in the morning you likely will not be hungry the next morning. For some reason around the 20 hour mark you get a burst of energy and mental clarity and your hunger goes away. By the time I get to the 24 hour mark the next day I usually end up eating a much smaller lunch than normal. It is really great for helping you learn to control appetite and reset your relationship with food.

Agreed
I'd have thought you were crazy to say go do legs then not eat for 6-7 hours.
It's great. I wanna say one of lsu777's posts on IF said it helps create natural HGH at a certain point. You can definitely feel this after 15/16 hours. The part about going another 8 is true as well. It's only rough for about 30/45 minutes. Then you're golden.

The "big 3" thread is a full blown tardathon.

yea when your insulin gets low your body starts producing HGH and turning to fat stores for energy. thats why once you make it past 16-18 its easy to go all the way to 36.
Like you said its only rough for at max 2 hours. usually about the 14 hour mark when you body is switching over. after you get past that its gravy.
and like the hodge twins like to say, if you are saying you love food too much to go 16-24 hours without eating then your arse is addicted and you need to kick the addiction. Honestly most americans are and some like to say most people in the US need to get used to what they call "American Hungry"
Most americans are used to stuffing their face every time they get one little hunger pain. They are cooking themselves from the inside.
but some people do get crazy hunger pains at first and should start with prolly 12 hour fast a few days then move to 14 then 16 then 18 all the way til they can do a 36 hour then decide whats best for them.
so long as protein intake over the course of a week is good you won't lose muscle. there is no reason to only think about nutrition in a 24 hour vacuum. Our body doesn't know what day it is. Look at the nutrition over the course of a week, a two week period or over a month. no reason to freak out about it.
honestly the best thing about IF is the freedom it gives you over your body once you get used to being without food. Bulking is easier and cutting is way easier.

I will freely admit I fall into this category.

I'm fine with a 16 hour fast. Get pretty hungry by 14ish hours, but nothing I can't handle. I think I want to try to slowly extend it until I can hit 24 hours.. 18, 20, 22, 24. I ate at about 6:30pm yesterday and ate at noon today, so tomorrow's goal is to push out to 1pm or 2pm, depending on when I eat last tonight.
Last time I tried a 24 hour fast, the hunger pangs really were bad at 16-18 hours. I was completely distracted, couldn't focus on work, felt like shite, like my blood sugar was low (shaky, clammy). I caved and ate, but it sounds like if you power through it gets easy..

This is exactly what was happening. it was your insulin levels bottoming out and your body switching completely over to using fat as fuel. Its your bodies way of signaling to eat mother fricker before it HAS to start using fat as fuel.
The whole point of anything really longer than 20-24 hours in my opinion is just to break the addiction to food. kind of like the first three weeks of going keto. It takes that long to get adapted and with IF to really break the food addiction it takes multiple long fast to truly break the food addiction for many.
I personally had to do it but for somebody that is already lean and not addicted, they won't need to. Now I know when I get hunger pains I don't "have to eat" like so many say and do.

I wasn't keto-adapted at that point. Was paleo, so this makes sense. Should it be easier to handle fat-adapted? Or is it just the adjustment to eating body fat?

I was only have joking earlier about the eating thing. My addiction to food is what got me to where I was years ago. I am very, very well aware of that, which is why I visit this thread on a daily basis. I struggle with that addiction every day for the most part.
There have been plenty of times I've been working and done what is essentially a 24 hour fast without even meaning to. When I'm on the road like that, I'll typically eat dinner and go to work the next day and not eat again until dinner because I'm rushing to finish work.

I've got the google drive pulled up...where should I start? Which document/book?
Posted on 4/5/16 at 2:40 pm to Doldil
well acknowledging and recognizing it is the main thing. I have a inner fat kid in me too and when he comes out he goes crazy. I have to keep that bitch lockup 99% of the time so I understand the struggle.
Honestly the only time I really really had no addiction to food was when I was my heaviest. Because I was so ashamed to be over 240 lbs that dieting was actually easy.
