Okay.. We ordered and thoroughly enjoyed a Randazzo's king cake for my daughter's birthday.. and then the inlaws just came through and dropped off a traditional Haydels cake that we're still working on.
Most of us preferred the Randazzo's-- more icing and less granulated sugar on top as biggest reason. My 14 year-old sugar-fiend, however, was more draw to the Haydels for the same reason. Cakes themselves were similar, but I found the Randazzo's to have a little better cinnimon flavor and the Haydel's was a little more "bready"...
take it for what it's worth.

The Cajun Kringle from Haydel's is excellent. Sent one of those this week. Recipients finished it off very quickly. I like those better than any king cakes.
