Anyone calling the steaks avg there is full of shite.
They are not going to compete with Ruths but they are very good.

one of the best steaks in BR is served at tsunami .. which, by most accounts, isn't a chophouse either .. and it is cheaper than either stroube's or flemings .. so much for that theory ..
Im sorry Stroubes servers a steak better than Tsunami and its NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE

You are just making a bad argument.. The steaks are not on the same level as their other dishes but their steaks are perfectly fine. Its just that the other dishes are extremely good dishes.
Im not sure what the OP really paid for them but I have not seen a steak cost over $50 even on a special there so Im not sure where the $90 per head is coming from.

They were more around Doe's prices, maybe a tad higher per lb

cat, i am not even arguing here, really ... i am literally going off of the OP's and a few other people's assessments of the steak at stroube's here ... if you love the steak .. great ! if you don't like the steak at tsunami .. fine .. but don't get pissed at other people because their opinion of a place is different from yours ..

You know what you should eat for dinner tonight...don't you?... Don't you? Go get the damn steak and write a review. Add to the discussion, rather than just stir the damn pot.

I dont know anyone that has called their steak avg.. If the OP is calling their steak avg then they need to define avg.. He was not... he compared it obviously to Ruths and Flemming as indicated by his post.
Stroube's steak is well above avg and one of the better steaks you will get in BR. But its not better than Ruths or Flemmings. Mainly because of the quality of steak served.
If Im In NOLA and eating at Stella! Im not going to expect them to serve me a better steak than Mr John. Even though I will definitly pay more at Stella! for a steak that probably wouldnt be as good.
If there is anything that should be a complaint it should be the price point for a USDA Choice cut.. But Im not even sure what was really paid for it. I know my wife ordered a NY Strip that was prime there with 2 diver scallops with a crazy caviar and it was $46. So I cant imagine those steaks cost a lot more than that if any.
