Cranberry n Vodka. Up or on the rocks? I know I sure specified things like that before making for customers.
the standard is OVER ICE, if a customer wants something outside of the norm, they request it. I've never had a customer order a cranberry and vodka up.

This, I agree with.

The ONLY time people say something like that is if they want a martini on the rocks as opposed to up.
So it changes to meet the liquor you're using? Ok. I heard it all.

none of this changes the fact that walk ons has over priced bad food
this thread isn't about their food (which is bad) but about their beverage charging practices.

Well enlighten me oh master of cheese fries. What will you do that will take less than $10 of ingredients that will just blow Walk On's cheese fries away?

No, a Martini is a type of drink. Martinis can be made with vodka or gin (plus all those new fancy ones which are always up)

Are you really trying to argue this? Where did you work that having to say on the rocks with a crown and coke was some universal practice?

I'd take TigerHam's cooking over Walk-On's any day. I'll bring the beer. Er, I'll bring the crown and the rocks.

Most mixed drinks in most bars are generally understood to include ice. And when you order them, without specifying otherwise, they will be served so.

A small handful will be generally understood to be served either straight up or on the rocks. For these the bartender will often ask you to specify if you don't.

An order of vodka and cranberry will pretty much always fall into the first category and not the latter. I've never heard of it otherwise.

Yes I misspoke. I understand this. The point of my argument is that there are many mixed drinks served on the rocks that need to be specified. I don't care what you call it. It means the same. We're arguing semantics.

Well all of the ingredients I would use stay stocked in my kitchen, granted I haven't made cheese fries since I became an adult and actually learned how to cook, I'm certain I could easily out do theirs. You must really love walkons cheese fries. Might I ask, how large of a man are you? If I were to guess, I'd say 300+

I havne't bartended in 15 years Please forgive me if I'm "mis-remembering" how things were ordered, but I sure as hell remember it that way.

Didn't know a semantics war on "on the rocks" and "with ice" would spur the bartender police out.

No we're not.

"On the rocks" is only used when ordering a heavy pour of liquor only or when a customer needs to differentiate between the VERY FEW drinks that can typically go either straight up in a martini glass or over ice.

90% of all mixed drinks come standard over ice. There are a few that come standard straight up (cosmo for example) and there are a few that can go either way.

you're just as bad as r2r with this. Well I could make it for this price using all the stuff I already bought.

What would make yours so special that there would be no comparison? Give me some details.

I'll take this as you have nothing so you're not even going to try.
