You should be able to find choice ribeyes for under $12/lb. Some Albertsons have real nice meat quality (choice). If you go to a place lice Rouses or Chris', you'll pay about $18+/lb. Just remember, you don't necessarily need a full pound of steak, especially if the group includes women.
