Because restricting travel in either direction to one lane while those passengers still have to sit behind endless empty CATS busses idling in the travel lane has basically made Government Street impassable from 7:00am-6:30pm during construction. If they are actually going to make it 3 lanes all the time, it's not going to be much better than this.
Not to hijack this thread, but this is completely incorrect info. All the bus routes on government st have been suspended during construction and there is no middle turn lane yet. So yes, traffic is bad right now. Who knows what the finished product will be like, buts its too early to judge at this point.

No horse in this race but went to Revival Market in Chicago twice a month or so ago. Once for lunch and once for happy hour. It’s a similar concept and had maybe 15 food stalls. Was truly blown away by the volume of people in there at lunch. Talking 20 to 30 people per vendor in line with another 20 to 30 eating, and a lot of other food traffic. And then as happy hour got going same thing.
I’ve only had one experience at St. Roch in New Orleans but it strikes me these glorified food courts (which are generally great) need a lot of food traffic to really get their operators in the Black.

Just you wait. Have you driven out there recently? The same amount of travel lanes are open now as in the future. And it sucks.
Where is the bustling lunch crowd going to come from? Downtown? Lol. Sherwood? You white people will see how silly this is.

Hmmmmm maybe take one of the other roads to your destination? It’s going to be great for midcity. Not sure how people don’t see this.

How is it going to be great? Serious question. I’ve seen the traffic studies. And I know our population.
FTR, I ONLY get on Govt to hit Calandros, Radio Bar, and such. This is not going to turn out how y’all dream.

On one hand, 90% of the current backups on Government are due to people making left turns. Either at lights, or even just into businesses. There are no turn lanes, so the entire left lane gets stopped until they can turn. A middle turn lane would greatly fix that.
On the other hand, this means the traffic that consumes two lanes currently will now all be in one.. possibly making it to where nobody will ever get to make their left turn from the turning lane because there will be no break in the traffic.
Guess we'll see.

Yeah, I am keeping an open mind about the plan, but I have doubts.

Again, the traffic studies show the shite-show of your negative inferences. But let’s get past that. You are looking at a 15-20 minute drive from downtown at lunch under the best case with everyone following recommended routes.
Look, honkeys, I hope it works out. But I fear the utter lack of infrastructure and discipline in this city spells it out.

So you’re a colored man? You ridin that bus causing those holdups?

I see it as being more of a draw from people at BRCC, BREC, State Police, DPS, Bon Carre, etc.

Ahem. I’m sure you mean person of color. And if you are ever in the big city you’d clearly see that there is no one on those busses. Of color or not.

I sure hope that wasn’t the business plan.

I think it's going to have a great dinner crowd. A lot of people live and go out to eat frequently around Mid City.

I know I'm going to be there quite a bit.

Well, I work downtown and I'm fortunate to not have a time limit on "lunch hour" so I don't really care how long it takes me to get to and from there if I so choose to dine there. Though I see what you're saying for the average person.
Beyond that, go anywhere in BR on a weekday and you'll see that there's still quite a shite ton of people doing leisurely shite like grocery shopping and dining out. If you're implying that this market will be hurting for business during lunch hours, I don't agree.
My plan is to wait a few weeks after it opens and hit it up closer to when I eat lunch (2pm) so that it is hopefully cleared out.

Am I the only person in BR who hasn’t been impressed with any of the jay d. Pop ups based on food alone?

Mary, Mary, quite contrary.. Guess they should shred the job applications, roll up the sidewalk and bulldoze the lot based on your negative input.
