I prefer a traditional King Cake (Galette des roi) which has an ameretto filling. Poupart's in Lafayette has a good traditional, and Keller's has a cross that is ring shaped and iced but texture and filling is closest to the traditional. I enjoy the braided cinnamon rolls as well and most filled or unfilled are good as long as you don't get bavarian creme filling. Fruit, nuts, cream cheese, cinnamon, I can understand, but pudding doesn't belong in a king cake.

If it has filling it’s not a king cake. It might be tasty, but it’s just a cinnamon role cake with filling be at that point.
