Last Jedi was a garbage movie even without the claimed SJW themes. Horrible script, acting, and a horrible script. The only character I really liked from TFA, Rey, got ruined as well.
The shite that the actress that played Rose was uncalled for, though. I get not liking the movie, but draw the line, people.

It's about immersion more-so than strict accuracy for me with this series.
I understand that when making a game, mechanics-wise, there are some liberties that need to be taken. Forcing everyone to use bolt action rifles with iron sights that jam is going to be very niche appeal. So they gave a whole bunch of semi- and fully-automatic weapons only barely relevant to the period. Make the horses freakishly bullet proof so they actually get some use. I get it.
The immersion is lost when you have a multi-gendered/multi-national hook-handed squad comically bouncing out of 2nd story windows shooting down planes with their Japanese katanas and Celtic-style war paint on their face.
It doesn't make you a bigot to be disappointed in that display, nor does it make you a hypocrite given the other inherent liberties that are taken to make a game like this marketable. There's a lot more nuance to it. I don't fault anyone who is okay with that type of turn in the series, but it's a step back in my opinion.
My aversion to the trailer is multi-layered. If it were just a female heroine on solo mission or with her own countrymen WITHOUT A HOOK FOR A HAND I'd be infinitesimally less annoyed by it. The combo of things just made it a farce.
I'll be sitting this one out for two reasons:
1- All the above
2- EA's/the media's response to viewpoints like mine
It's not that I simply avoid games with these types of characters or comic action. I just didn't want it for this series (one I have played for going on 16 years)
ETA: And yes, I understand it was a trailer. I would be more open minded about it if EA had been even halfway decent in their initial responses.
ETAETA: I mean for real just watch the BF1 trailer, then the BFV trailer, and tell me there's not a ton of room for disappointment.

I know some say “People are tired of the WW period shooters” etc but for so many, BF1 was a huge miss. I have something around 8-10 hours into BF1. Ice put in about as much time the last month into BF4
I was excited to pre order BFV up until seeing how they handled the backlash. I wasn’t too upset with the trailer however I was disappointed. Notice the one person sticking up for EA in this thread is just here to argue liberal talking points (muh women) and doesn’t even have interest in BFV. He’s the left’s version of Parmen on this board.
EA has ruined two of my favorite franchises with micro transactions (Madden and potentially BFV).
I am more optimistic now about the game due to the delay. Considering everything it was going to lack at launch, it was a wise move. Board favorite TLOU once delayed once upon a time too. We’ll see what Dice is able to do with the added time.

Rumor that Bad Company 2 Remaster is coming as a contingency plan if the game fails, as well as making the BR mode free to play.
quote:
Over on the Giant Bombcast (#547), an anonymous tipster (who emailed the site regarding correct information about Battlefield V E3 info, which the group claimed was accurate) emailed them that some fans comparing Battlefield V’s weak pre-order sales to Titanfall 2 are “pretty far off base” since Battlefield V’s pre-orders have already beaten Titanfall 2’s week one sales AND pre-orders at this point.
What’s more, the tipster said EA won’t let the game (BFV) under-perform too drastically, and some of the contingency plans the publisher has is to make Battlefield V’s battle royale mode free-to-play with bonus for those who own BFV to make up the revenue difference, and it’s also considering something “huge” as part of the game’s post-release content if it needs to boost sales of BFV, and that would be a remastered version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (the tipster compared it to Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remaster)! Note that the tipster mentioned that nothing is set in stone just yet, though these ideas are being “kicked around”

Yes, immersion and suspension of disbelief is an interesting thing when it comes to art.
People like to dismiss criticisms of those type of those things like "It's a video game, nothing in it is realistic!" or something along those lines as a defense of something out of place, but that's not how it works.
Essentially your brain creates a set of rules for the game universe and those rules are established very early on, based on the characters, the setting, the genre, etc. Anything that happens within the parameters of the rules is acceptable, anything that happens outside the parameters of those rules is jarring.
Here's a simple example: Let's say in the middle of the Lord of the Rings in the fight with the Balrog Gandalf pulled out a grenade launcher.
Everyone would have thought that was ridiculous and out of place. In the Lord of the Rings universe magic spells are realistic, grenade launchers are not.
Same shite with Battlefield V, there are a ton of video games where a bionic woman taking on hoards of enemies would work just fine and nobody would notice or care. However in your supposed World War II game universe that's out of place as frick.

I posted this a while back when this discussion first came up that prosthetic arms such as that were all over the place back in that time period. A lot of them looked straight out of science fiction. To say that part takes you out of the immersion just shows how little you know of that era, so it shouldn't matter anyways.
Looking this for the first time in a while, and holy shite fox, your comment about the black guy with face paint couldn't have been more over the top

We are lifetime members at the WWII museum in NO. Never came across the mercenary exhibit. Might be a 2019 addition.

Looks dumb, but who gives a shite. I am not going to play the storyline anyway.
Everyone in multiplayer is going to look like a dumbass with cosmetics anyway.

Maybe we need to wait to see what the story is? You know, the fictional one.

A whole section devoted.
Edt: It is the first section if you take the tour route. Right after you get off the simulated train.
