"Hardcore" (whatever that means) gamers might choose based on IP, but a growing number of people won't be choosing that way. As more and more casual gamers and people looking for an entertainment hub buy, they will look less and less at the IP's and more at what else the console can do.
The average person can use a PS3 as an entertainment hug as well. They also won't be required to pay an extra $50 a year to access services they already pay for like Netflix. And if you can't access your DVR recordings through your Xbone, then I don't really see the appeal in hooking your cable box up to it.

Just look at how many chose the PS3 over the 360 because of Blu-Ray.
I think it's more likely that including Blu-ray in the PS3 lost Sony more PS3 sales than it gained. Especially early on in the system's life.

I like the idea of being able to seamlessly jump from TV, to a game, to the web, to a movie.

I don't see this as being true, at the time it was the cheapest Blu-ray player on the market. Many people who weren't gamers bought the PS3 just for that fact.

That functionality has been out for years, it's called a receiver.

You can already go from tv to a game seamlessly. Like I said, if you can't access your DVR through the xbone then I don't see the appeal. Maybe they will change that in the future.

There were definitely some people who picked up a PS3 just for the Blu-ray player, but most people didn't care about it back then. Most people were put off by the $600 price tag, and the BR player had something to do with that.

Don't see that happening, especially for providers, they have no reason to provide DVR's that are compatible with the Xbone.

Don't understand how this argument goes against the PS3 yet doesn't work to help the argument for the PS4.

It's not the same and you know it.

I can't even begin to count the number of people I saw that cited the PS3 having BluRay as one of the reasons they bought the PS3.
And the PS3 fanboys would ALWAYS cite that as a reason the PS3 was better, and why people should choose it over the 360.

Yes...ONE of the reasons.
You made it sound like it was the only reason.

It is different than having a receiver IMO, but at the same time unless you have DVR on your Xbox, the whole TV thing is IMO going to be a waste. I think Live TV, besides sports, is going the way of the dinosaur.
Now if you have Netflix integrated with this feature where you can switch to whatever you were watching instantly, then I think it would be cool.
Now you have to wait for 10+ seconds for the app to think, select your show and then episode, then wait a few more seconds for it to buffer. This would all depend on Netflix changing on their end.
