re: Any golf ranking system that doesn’t have Bruce Kupcake…

From 1986 to 2022 nobody had a problem with the OWGR. But the Saudis go create an exhibition golf league and pay a handful of top players to compete in it and now all of the sudden the rankings are “illegitimate?” C’mon guys, stop biting on the narratives y’all read on Twitter. LIV can change at anytime to meet the criteria to match ever other professional golf tour and they’ll receive OWGR points

Just give LIV tournaments a reduced amount of points earned per tournament. There is no doubt about it that LIV has had fields that are more impressive that the Tours and have some of the best players in the world. But more often than not, the Tours depth is just much greater. A no cut, 54 hole win does not an equal a 72 hole, 100+ player win.
LIV guys would still be earning points, but wouldn’t be able to earn them like they would if they were on tour. To say that they shouldn’t get them based simply on it being 54 holes you’d need to say that events that PGA is putting in place shouldn’t earn points either.
Of course they want owgr points but they knew what they were signing up for. Most haven’t even spoken up about it so it seems like they’ve accepted it. Koepka was getting booed today by bozos and didn’t have a ton of fan support, had he not left, he would have had more people cheering for him over Hovland instead of the other way around. But they knew that too. But cashing checks the size they do makes up for it.

I was impressed by Brooks' interview after the Masters. It seems like he might have reverted back to his douchy self in this press conference.

Imagine this
Let’s say in august, 78 college football teams decide to leave the NCAA
3 sec teams
5 big 10 teams
50 mid major teams
And 10 teams from D3
Then they immediately scream to be included in the rankings and playoff system. Exactly how in the blue frick do you quickly rectify that? You have to admit it would take legit time to come up with a way. It’s not realistic for LIV to immediately want an answer
Realistically, it’s a 2-3 year process at minimum

Research how long it took for Tiger's 54 hole tournament to get points. Here is a hint.....it took 9 years.
IMO, that part of the criteria is not the hang-up.

Exactly, they will be included eventually because of the players there, and more so Saudi will PAY for it to happen. People talk about morals until SA dangles 100M in front of your org.

College football is a perfect example of how LIV and PGA Tour should actually work.
They are like separate conferences. They play throughout the year and fans of each conference fight about how their conference is better and their 3rd place team would easily beat their 1st place team and then it all gets settled at the majors.

Oh really? Tell me how the MEAC and SunBelt conferences get to battle it out at the end of the year to see who is best?

There has to be some mathematical metric that could be put in place.
It's the Upward version of professional golf. Everybody gets a trophy (money) so to speak. Hell, Pat Perez is a rich professional golfer now and it's not because he's good at golf.

That’s because prior to 2022 all of the best players in the world played on a single tour. Not hard to understand.

Do you think the PGA tour was better off before the implementation of the FedEx Cup?
Posted on 5/22/23 at 3:29 pm to Tyga Woods
Regardless of which tour these guys play on, the best players in the world are still gonna compete in the majors. There are other exemptions for the majors than just those ranked inside the top 50 in the OWGR. As Seth Waugh mentioned in his press interview last week, the best players in the world are still going to be invited to compete in the PGA Championship, regardless of the tour they compete on

Hard to say. The decade prior to the inaugural fedex cup was the prime Tiger era. Golf was booming.
