What’s going on with the old Abita course? Anyone know?

I drove out there a couple of weekends ago and the lights were on in the clubhouse. But really nothing going on except they built what looks like a concession stand on the driving range. The grass on the range was also mowed.

The driving range opened last Saturday at Abita. $20 all the balls you want to hit.

Last thing I saw them post about it was they were trying for March/April. They built a little bar at the range, been having live music on the weekends.

t that is a stretch at $490/month

Who gave you that number? I don't know of a membership category that is $490 a month, base dues. And if you are under 40, its about $275.

I'm a member at Beau Chene, but frequented CCC often, and had my email in their distribution list.

Got the email yesterday announcing their new prices. Haven't played there in 2 years, but if everything I've heard on here is true about the upkeep, those prices are harsh.

I’m a BC member. My advice would be to negotiate that initiation fee down. You should be able to get it down really low.

Golf In Louisiana just flat out sucks, I moved to Chicago and there are more good courses in a 5 mike radius of my house than the state of Louisiana. Land sucks for golf and courses compete with tax funded agencies like Brec which destroys competition

Holy shite!! $62 bucks, that place is a $40 course on its best day.

I was a member there for 10 years and I dropped last year because they went up on the dues and the course receives no quality maintenance.

Harsh truth … this is why Louisiana golf sucks. What is the difference between $40 and $62? Both are super cheap for a round of golf. Keeping up a course is crazy expensive.

If you pay less than $100 for your round, don’t complain. It is what it is. If that $22 is that important to you, this probably isn’t your game.

People I know that are members of clubs with nice courses in TX and FL are paying $500-$900 a month and cart fees. That’s on top of $20-$80,000 initiations. Even the decent public courses in Houston are $100+. There just isn’t enough money in Louisiana to support great courses.
