I was at Oakbourne for a couple years and switched to LT when a number of friends joined there. They both have different advantages IMO. OCC used to be a maintain far better conditions, but since LT redid the greens they are more comparable. I like the layout of the golf course at LT a lot more than OCC, but OCC has superior greens usually.

LT Advantages: Pace of play, better money games if you're looking to join one, better layout, easier to get a last minute tee time on a Saturday, slightly cheaper than OCC, much better practice facility

LT Cons: Membership doesn't like the GM for a number of reasons, fairways can get thin, golf course is too easy during winter months with no rough growing

OCC Advantages: Greens are usually really good, usually more lush in fairways than LT, Tennis Facility and Pool areas are superior to LT, I like the grill and locker areas better at OCC either are fine.

OCC Disadvantages: Something OCC members would always tell me is that it's about 10 funerals away from being a really good club (older members run the show), if the weather is good and you play on a Sat morning it'll be a 5-6 hour round, layout is gimmicky in spots (a number of holes can punish good shots - mostly on the back 9), drainage isn't very good and the course stays wet after it rains, membership owns stock so you will come out of pocket for capital improvements.

I’ve been hearing some very odd stories coming out of LT lately concerning the management.
What’s the deal? GM is just a bitch? Why don’t the members do something?

I'm not sure, I've never actually met her or had a reason to dislike her so I don't really have an opinion. I've just heard other people complain through the grapevine

Cliff is a quintessential club pro. That is his job, and he is really good at it. Just look how long he has been there with a powerful/opinionated membership.

Giving lessons is a different deal. I don’t think you can’t be really good at both because time doesn’t allow it.

I don't think the members hold a ton of sway at LT, Mr. Maraist owns it. No stock members

Cliff has outlasted several general managers.....even with his porn stache.

LT's current pro is the old super. The guy that would hit balls on the range all day and hang out with Joy.

I’m gonna play Wetlands next time I’m in town (May).

I might have time to play somewhere else as well.

Is muni still over run by hacks that take all the tee times and think they own the place ??

There are still several associations that play at muni. The old men are slowly dying off. I haven't had a problem out there in years.

5-7 years ago, it was pretty bad.

Is there any way to find a list of upcoming golf tournaments in the Lafayette area aside from looking through each course website?

Muny is what it is. A public course in a less traveled area of town. It has no driving range or chipping greens. It does have a putting area, albeit a small one.

It is very tight between holes. It is not a long course, therefore it is a good walking course. Small greens that at times are in decent shape. Not a grand golfing experience, but it can be fun. Ejoying the sun, and a cold one at Muny.

Greens are rough. A lot of the poa annua grass on greens. They sprayed weed killer on Sunday. Hope it works soon.

The Farm is a pretty course. It is a tough driving course. If greens get in shape, it is a better track than Wetlands, VC, or Muni.

It is. There are players who just randomly skip holes; ie play one, skip two and three, play four, five. Skip over to nine...lol. A lot of regulars that do feel entitled. I guess that is as it should be. When you are the bottom Muni course, you should expect hacks, privileged, and slow play. But many, many people have learnt how to play golf because of courses like Muni.

Hey Pingman, are you the guy that works there? I went in during the holidays to see how it was going. I didn't play. I spoke to a nice young guy who talked about this golf board.

If it was you, I enjoyed our talk. Hope things are well there.

1-4. Tee off on 4 to 8 green. Play 9, go drink more beer.

Oh and yes I am guilty
