No, it was a Thursday. Really nice guy. I will bring clubs next time. We play mainly at Farm. A few years back when the Farm was redoing the greens, our group played at Squirrel Run every Saturday. I haven't played since the new management has been in place. We are planning for a Saturday in 'da Berry this Spring. I will ask for you, just to say hi.

Cane Row Golf Club (used to be Squirrel run) is in good shape, just wet. All bunkers are being redone...greens are pretty good with a few exceptions. Under new ownership...

How is the new ownership? Is the course going to survive?

Oakbourne is a golf course first and that is the focus.

I wish Oakbourne were more affordable, but then everyone would be members. I really like that course. I just never get to play it.

Is anyone here in any of those golf associations? Years ago, my wife had a work friend who's husband was in one, and I almost joined. But never did. Its something that I have been wanting to do, just to get out and meet some different people. Also would get to play more often than I do now. I am terrible at golf, so I don't know how these local associations feel about triple digit rounds from players in their club.

I'm not now but was years ago. I would encourage you to join one if you're looking to get out to play a few more rounds and meet new people through golf then those associations are a great way to do it.

In my experience they welcome anyone regardless of skill level, if you know how to play the game and are a friendly person I think they would encourage you to join.

If you are asking about the ones at Muni, yes, I am in one. We play Saturday at 8. There is another Saturday group that plays at 10, and a Sunday 10 am group. They all welcome new membership. Just show up before the tee time and talk to the guy taking money. I think all of them are $20 to join for the year and $20 each week. Closes to the hole on all par 3s, and a dogfight where you play against your handicap, and a skins game. They will establish a handicap for you during your first 3 rounds with the club and adjust each week based on how you score.

Oh boy. Well, all groups play a modified Stableford, so at double bogey, you pick up. As long as you don't slow anyone down, and aren't a complete a-hole/ douchebag, I imagine all 3 groups would welcome you. However, you need to be at least a 36 handicap. I imagine you will not have that much fun picking up all the time.

I can tell you that you will get better playing in these groups, because you have to putt it out, and there are no mulligans. You'll start to focus on each shot.

The new ownership is great! All the bunkers should be finished within the next couple of days. Greens are much better. We are getting more play and we are getting new members.
