I would not expect much from a HS Golf coach for the most part they are chauffeurs . There are some good ones but are few and far between. I know what the PGA is trying to do with Jr League, I just think the parents and some coaches are missing the point. I think it’s great for kids to go play and compete. I could have put my kid in tournaments at 8 or 9, but I did not want to make golf a job until they were mature enough to understand competition. It should be hands off from parents and just let the kids have fun and learn from their mistakes.

I thought the official score cards were holes 1-3, 4-6, 7-9. A flag is won or halved on each three hole set? Team with most flags wins? This is from years ago so it may have changed?

It’s 3 consecutive holes. Here is the rule:
3 holes in a row. Maybe some local sections changed their rules.
That is why the official scorecard should be changed. It does have 1-3 4-6 7-9 but they aren’t using that as holes. It’s match 1 in flag 1.

Within a PGA Jr. League game, pairs play in a head-to-head, 9-hole match. Each match is broken into three flags. Each flag is three holes in a row, and each team has the opportunity to earn points at the end of each flag.

That’s way easier to keep up with! Especially if you have a shotgun start.

Well, that 3 wood was a dud. He (my 12 yo son) already broke the clubhead right off.

My HS “coach” was the basketball coach. He drank beer at the clubhouse all day while we played, then he drove us home. We never thought twice about it back then.

Try to do something to get kids to learn the game and the adults frick it up everytime.
That's because youth sports are no longer about being part of a team, or in individual sports, enjoying competition, and doing the best you can with no expectations of getting something monetary out of it.
Now, youth sports is a big business driven by hopes of a scholarship, bragging rights, and hitting the lottery by getting a kid into the pro's.
