I have an arc putting stroke. Not trying to convert to a straight line putting stroke as I'm comfortable with that part of my game. I have a putter that is made for AS. However, it took me until tonight to see something I wasn't looking to fix. On putts 6+ feet away I randomly started opening up my putter face just a bit, and the result was more center-of-the-cup putts than missing left.

I never thought about opening up my putter face, especially with mid to long range putt. Anyone else find this to be true?

So you have an arc stroke and then you opened up the face and started making putts? Is that the story?

Pretty much. I've always kept the putter face square to the ball no matter the distance. Didn't know if others open the face as well and/or if I'm just really late to understanding what I should be doing.

There's varying levels of toe hang on putters designed for an arc stroke.

It sounds like you need more toe hang

You have an arc stroke and leave the face square on ur backswing? That’s not natural.

With every putt I was squaring the putter face when addressing the ball, before the backswing. I found that with longer putts if I opened the face slightly at the address I was more successful.

Of course when I tried it yesterday I had mixed results. I started with a one-putt from 8 feet out but ended up with 41 putts, including 5 three-puts and one four-putt.

Keep the putter square at address and focus on ur shoulders rocking. Try to feel your left shoulder go down and up. That will give you a pendulum stroke creating ur natural arc. Don’t open your face while addressing.
