This format is garbage. It's an exhibition at this point for 95% of the field.

OK, you give 2 players a bye in the 1st round. That reduces the field to 28 players in 14 matches. 14 players advance to the 2nd round with 7 winners. How many players & matches in the 3rd & subsequent rounds. If you go to match play I think 32 is the magic number.

Last format was best. Top five all win the cup if they win the tournament. Everyone else needs help. It makes for much better drama, every shot matters more.
Lots of guys put up great numbers today that would normally put them in position to win a tournament(a large purse), but that is FAR less likely in this format.

The problem is its been reported that in favor of the current format. If they don't want match play, it's not going to happen imo.
