Anyone here competed in a Hyrox or Deka Fit competition?

How was it and do you recommend?

I am looking at signing up for one of these (preferably Hyrox) and training for 3-4 months before transitioning to training for a 50k in October.

For those that don't know, both Hyrox/Deka are "Fitness Racing" that combine running with functional fitness movements (Ski Erg, Sleds, Wallballs, etc).

Nice! Did you train specifically for Hyrox or how did you prepare for this?

Trying to plan out my strategy on this, so interested in any ideas you've got.

i trained on Saturdays for it. During the week I trained as if I were prepping for a powerlifting meet. Just built up my strength. I run every day at a public track after I lift. On Saturdays, I'd go to a buddy's house where he has a 2 sleds, wall balls, lunge sandbags, etc. We'd see how much we can do in an hour and if we could complete it. Never completed it in an hour, but nor did I complete the hyrox in an hour.

Interesting - I really like the idea of having a dedicated day just for Hyrox rather than committing an entire training block to it.

Do you feel the training had you prepared? Also - did you have access to a ski erg while training?

Yea the training def prepared me for it. I didn’t have access to a ski erg, I kinda just winged that honestly. It’s really not that difficult. The one block a week for hyrox training was great. I wasn’t burnt out on it at any point in my training.
