Not worth the effort, money, etc.... or yes? If they're worth it, what's some preferred manufacturers.

If you are eating beef, eggs, drinking whey shakes etc you don’t need it.

I don't think it's worth paying for. My bottle of BCAAs says 7g per serving, then I look at my protein bottle, and it says it has 5g included. I don't know where else BCAA come from but im sure u get it in your diet somehow.

There was some research years ago suggesting that in very long workouts it was helpful to consume them in the middle of the workout to prevent muscle breakdown. IIRC it was tied to the depletion of glycogen stores, the need to keep blood glucose levels maintained, and some of these BCAA's would block the breakdown of muscle protein for entry into the gluconeogenesis pathway. I don't know what the latest results are, regarding this topic, however. For most people I don't think they add much.

yeah but I mix it with my creatine and drink it during my workout. Does it work? I don't know but I think it works for me, placebo effect I'm sure, but I've been doing so long why stop.

This is sort of how I use them. I put a small scoop in my preworkout on most days, and when I've got an hour or more workout planned, I put a scoop in my water bottle with electrolytes added. It helps with the endurance and heavy lifting days.

I had been using Creatine mono, but didn't like the little bit of bloating I was seeing. Switched back to BCAA, and while the benefit might be small, it definitely has some impact.

Looking at the diet suggested for my wife during pregnancy and breastfeeding, there are a ton of foods loaded with BCAAs in those recommended diets. Use that as a guide.

If you are going to use a BCAA product at least get one that also has EAA’s added to it. You can benefit from those. ‘BCAA’ and ‘pre workout’ products are some of the cheapest to produce and maximize profits for supplement companies. A lot of these products are garbage. Real Foods - Beef, chicken, fish, and eggs and ‘whey’ shakes all contain plenty of BCAA’s. Always try and prioritize real foods. I realize people are busy etc but me personally would rather use my money on other products/supplements that provide more benefit and at grocery store.

For those saying not worth it, it is actually one of the cheapest supplements, per serving, that I have used. And I don't deal with the flavors and other additives.

LINK

83 servings for $23. Or roughly a quarter per serving. The serving size is 3/4 of a tablespoon. You could take it every day for 12 weeks and it is really cheap. I add it to my electrolyte water or just put it in a few ounces of water, stir it up, and chug it. It doesn't have a bad flavor, but it isn't a ton of product either.

If you are eating right it's not worth it, even if it is cheap.
