Recurring Turf Toe

I gave myself a pretty severe case of turf toe in Spain in the summer of 2023. XRays were negative, had the walking boot for a while, and then switched to a carbon fiber insert so I could wear regular shoes again.
Basically, just to be safe, if I was going to anticipate walking at an accelerated pace (think, get to the destination, not strolling with a female pace) I would wear the insert.
It seems like it's gone away, until it decides it doesn't. Over a year later, I had to limp around the office one day until I put the insert back in (changed shoes) two weeks ago, and it's still flaring up. Are there stretches or imbalances I can correct to stop this from happening again?

That was ruled out by the foot doc. My diet is pretty much low purine by default. This has popped up once or twice since the initial treatment, and was clearly exercise initiated each time.
