Any recommendations on treadmill brands or models? We’re rounding out a home gym setup and already have some strength training items. Use would be basic cardio training for a family of four ( Including two pre-teen boys that are starting to get interested in fitness training).

I think I could rationalize ~$1700 ball park price, but would like to get something that’s durable and accurately calibrated.

Thanks for any advice.

Find a used one on Facebook marketplace and your budget goes much further. 95% of people don't put any kind of use into their treadmill so most of them are basically new.

A NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is probably the gold standard for a true workhorse treadmill. It's what I have and I put maybe 20 miles per week on it. A Sole F80 would be its competitor.

This is what I have. $500 bucks off FB marketplace. Nothing fancy about the display or electronics, but it's solid.

I recently bought a Horizon 7.4AT and have been pleased with it. 3.5 HP motor is a big plus for me, as I wanted something sturdy. Purchased from Dick’s for $1,599 before tax, shipping, etc.

Wait a couple of months after New Years, when all the resolutioners give up on their "New Year New Me" fitness goals and want to get the $1000 clothes hanger out the house.

I have a Sole F80 too, it was around that price new in 2020 during Covid.

It’s been great until a few weeks ago, the belt is tearing at the seam. It doesn’t look to bad to change it but probably will be a pain.

Sole has a solid reputation for reliability - frankly, I would price these machines with a "commercial build but for the home" as though they're going to last you about 5 years then get replaced, pretty much across the board.

If you can get a remanufactured Lifefitness (or Precor, but I like LF better) true commercial, delivered and set up, you could probably get 8 to 10 years out of it, but would probably need a good bit of maintenance to do that.

NordicTrack Commercial 1750

Bought one in 2018 for a family of four, with 2 teens and it is still going strong. Looks like they have been redesigned, but ours is heavy and awkward to move even when partially disassembled due to the base design. Luckily we only had to do that once.

Seriously forget the treadmill and get an Assault Bike or Rogue Echo Bike, especially if considering your boys.

skip the treadmill and get a rower instead, better whole body workout.

Concept2 is very highly regarded, but I got a ProForm magnetic instead and love it

Ok, I'll say it too. Forget the treadmill. Just grab some kettlebells, a heavy sandbag, plate carrier, or a heavy backpack and walk around for 30 minutes a day.

You will benefit more from walking under a load, even on straight flat city streets, then you will on a treadmill.

Just my opinion. Carry on.

I prefer walking outside and do so when I can, but not when it's raining or 95 degrees.
