$285 for a 20k square foot aeration is cheap.

Not saying it isn't, just thinking it may be more cost-effective to do it myself. Just have to figure out if its worth storing a tow behind or not.

33-3-6, 33-0-3. I am going to do 46-0-0 but I wouldn't recommend that for normal yard use.

I had a bag of 33-0-0-12 from last year, about 40 lbs. I put that down.

I rented a core aerator from sunbelt rentals. It was around $80-90. Enjoyed doing it myself.

Anyone got an opinion on liquid aeration? Getting some quotes and landscape companies recommending that route. I'm afraid it wont work well with my hard clay packed soil.

Don’t. It’s not a true aeration.

I borrowed a tow behind last year that did an ok job. The problem is the tines are kind of small in diameter. Yesterday I rented the pro one from Home Depot and was impressed with the job that it did. If you have hard soil be sure to water the lawn before aeration.

I second the Agri-fab core pull behind. I got it because I have 2 acres of seriously compacted clay soil that needs to be broken up plenty. Renting one for a weekend would do me no good. I'm going to pull it 4 or 5 times over this summer. Just pulled it today after this rain and it worked as advertised.

I second your second. After reading this thread a few days ago I came across one on Craigslist. Agri-fab for $130. Used it today with 4 cinder blocks on it behind by commercial mower. Worked pretty damn well.

On 2 acres so using a walk behind rental was a pain the last few times. Highly recommend these.
