Gonna take a little while before we notice it at the lumber yards. It's like fuel, shoots up quick when market rises quick. Goes down slow when market drops quick!

When is the last time any of you guys have been to a quality lumberyard? With true hardwoods and exotics.

I'm building an REI store here in Georgia. The rainscreen at the entry is supposed to be Alaskan Yellow Cedar. It was priced out by my supplier at $9 per board foot back in December. Now, when we need it, it's unavailable because it's not being harvested in the Pacific northwest, and those few slats that you CAN find are running at around $25 per board foot.

Fire rated lumber for blocking on commercial projects is insane right now. A sheet of fire rated plywood (3/4") is jumping around between $90 and $112 per sheet depending on what day, or even what time of day, you call.

I've resorted to doing furniture projects using the old doors from the cloak rooms from the elementary school I attended decades ago. I've had those doors for more than 40 years. It's time to do something with them.
